The alilaguna was fine, they do it everyday, it was just that I was expecting to see stuff from it but as you're below deck if you like, you can't really see much.
Funnily enough the Mrs found our bus receipt yesterday. We had to book in advance. It's available for the day you book for and you then show the driver your ticket. We printed the ticket out beforehand. It was €7 in 2018. You may be able to download ticket to your phone, but you'd have to check.
NOTE: I'm assuming you're flying from MARCO POLO Airport.

We saw your hotel this morning as our boat stopped at the Lido on way to San Marco. It really is right by the vaperetto. Looks nice there too.
I already love Venice - what a stunning place. Trying to match up recommendations with what we have just visited and what we are going to do when we go back out. Doges palace in the morning though.

Top floor room over looking Venice. The Hungaria was nicer but it didn't have that view of opening the shutters in the morning and looking out over the lagoon and Venice.
Enjoy your stay. If you have the time, get a one day vaporetto pass at least and take a trip to Burano, it is very picturesque. The boat leaves San Zacchario stop at 8.15, 9.15 and 10.15 and is Route 14. Make sure it goes all the way to Burano, some don't, but I think these times are fine. Its a big boat and you can sit up or down stairs. On the way back get off at the lido and get some provisions in the big supermarket.
It's less than 100yd past the right hand side of the Riviera hotel down the main street with the water behind you. It's on the left in the big clothes shop, you wouldn't even know it's there). 660ml peroni red at about €1.15
Get the 1 boat back to Venice, make sure it has seats at the very front of the bow and stay on it all the way up the Grand Canal. Then you can either walk back or get back on it and go down the canal the other way. Not bad for €20.
Also recommend walking left along the canal from St Marks Square as far as you can go and then walk back, looking at classic Venice.
Less than 200 yds from St Marks Square, again with the water to your right and just beyond the viewing bridge for the bridge of sighs, there is a church that has classical music performances, Santa Maria del Pietra. We saw Vivaldi's Four Seasons. It was very good, less than 200, mostly local, people in attendance and about a dozen musicians at most. I then found out that it was Vivaldi's church which made it even more special. Tickets were cheaper buying them directly from the church during the day.
I wish I was there with you.
