Spineless Cooper

"Whatever time of the season you play them it's always going to be a challenge. It’s got the makings of a really good game. Our focus will be on how we win and playing well. Any game at home we have to really go for. It can’t come quick enough."

I expect he will set up the same against Rotherham on the weekend and try and Nick it like we’ve done so many times this season.

It’s difficult because we know we can play it on the deck and I wish we weren’t as reactive. Teams should be adapting to us, not the other way around.

I would say that is exactly what happens though. Teams adapt to us. I suppose then we adapt our style to what they do, but I think we have to as we can't impose our way of playing unless we are allowed to. We always try to play exactly the same way, and if a team stops us, or finds a way through our midfield, we get tonight, or we get Derby, or QPR, or Luton or Coventry, even Rotherham and Barnsley twice negated us into humping it. It's just sometimes we find a way to score goals and they don't and we win or draw and dog it out. We did it again tonight, in effect. If they don't find a way to stop us and give us space where we want it, like Watford, Cardiff, Wycombe then we look good. Will it be enough to sustain us...who knows. Hope so.

It's difficult to criticise a manager when we're second in the division, although some people seem to find it very easy. What does surprise me a little is that our goal difference is the second highest in the division even though we've scored so few goals.

As someone who lives about 15 minutes from Brentford's new ground, I'm really enjoying the sense of anger from them that we didn't roll over for them. "Most of the possession" blah blah, "most of the shots" which they didn't threaten with, "no way was that a Swansea free kick... and they fouled our keeper" blah blah. I'd have taken a draw before the match so am very happy right now.

Let's move along now girls and boys, nothing to see here, we are still in the hunt and can expect that it won't always go as planned. Good result against a good team.

Our defence is the best in the league though...one of the best in the country right now. As long as our GD is high, I couldn't care less how that is split up in terms of goals for and goals against.

Exactly this. It's frustrating because I believe this team is good enough to take the team to opponents, be proactive rather than reactive.

I (probably unfairly) compare it to the promotion season under Rodgers. Even though we only spent a few weeks in the automatic promotion spots all season, that team went out and played every week with the belief we were the better team and we could beat the opposition playing our way.

Having said that, Steve Cooper obviously knows infinitely more about football and our players than I do and he has us 2nd in the table, so I'm in the wrong. Our defensive record is incredible and seems to be more about system than talent, as it's remained consistent even when the players change. Perhaps if we did play to win more, the defence doesn't work like it should and we concede a lot more goals.

Cooper had improved us significantly since he's been here and I don't really think we can ask for any more than that. Unfortunately I can't help being greedy and wishing for more.

Second in the table and the manager sets us up to sit back and defend against a good but lower placed team than us ... embarrassing.
Thank goodness for Guehi, Cabango and Fulton.

Good? I don't think there's any doubt Brentford are the best team in the league, no doubt they will show it in the second half of the season

Oh change the record please, you are getting boring, ffs we are second in the table, yes we can and probably should have played better but we didnt, let's just forgive, forget and move on.

Like I've already said in the match day thread, Brentford did to us last night exactly what we did to them at their place earlier in the season, Lucky to come away with a point.

I hope for Cooper's sake we can fluke a point at Rotherham on Saturday or some of the plums on here will be calling for his head again!

OP, give your head a wobble ffs 👍

Spot on FB, all about opinions but I despair at some on here. They think we should be 10 points clear FFS.
