I will say that I was a total party pooper when I heard we'd appointed Steve Cooper.

I am eating humble pie and it tastes delicious!

He's the only guy keeping his head. He's calm under pressure and believes in his players and they are repaying him and us well of late.

Yes we have limitations but with what we have got he's getting a pretty good return.

I did not expect to be in this position but it's fantastic and shows why we al love sport.
The twists and turns and pulling things out of the back when you least expect.

People with far superior knowledge of the game than me will justifiably point to tactics, substitutions etc etc BUT they way he conducts himself and has got the players working hard for the shirt is commendable.

Measured and calm. Fingers crossed for more success.

Once again I got it wrong.....and I'm glad.

Well said, Dicky. We're all armchair experts in our own rights and claim to know more than the professionals. On the other hand not many will hold their hands up and say that they misjudged things.

If I was to give Cooper a school grade it would be somewhere near B+ or A-. It's taken him the best part of a season to work out a formula that seems to deliver wins and nobody can argue that his game management has been poor. However, at the end of the day he's got us to within two games of the return to the big leagues and at the start of the season this will have been viewed as progress. He's got a fantastic opportunity to push for grade A*.

Football is amazing and our little club plays a massive part in it. Cooper appears, in some kind of bizarre way, to be an achiever. The football often veers from frustrating to watch to painful to watch and the players look a shadow of themselves and clueless at times, but you can deny his achievement.

Brilliant and the feelings of a real true fan.

I'd like to say I'm still not convinced mainly as I think till misses the mark, lack of subbing tired players. That said,to lose2/3 centre backs is something Citeh or Liverpool would struggle with.

He needs his teeth fixing though

Tmrw night is/will be the ultimate test for him. The experience he's gained in tournament matches could be what swings it. Tho deep down I'm guessing we all still have a niggling doubt he may get it wrong. Get it right, I'm happy to hold up my hands.

This, I wasnt convinced when he was appointed, like the rest frustrated at times during the season, and behind the team every game , as now, theres been an improvement , but still not convinced, as stated, Tomorrows game will give us a better insight, maybe fiery on the field and bench.

COYS .

You won't get too many responses to this thread, too many have totally destroyed him. Step up Jack's.

Cooper has done well in my eyes i think that we have been naive at times and thrown away points especially at home. He has brought in players who have improved us and also played some of our youngsters who i would have liked to have seen some more of. But due to some of our players switching off at times we have hovered in and about play off places limiting opportunities.

I have criticized Ayew at times this season and fans wont have any of it, instead having a right go at our young captain. When you challenge them with what or who they come up with AA or MVDH the same players who wanted out season start or no answer, glad Grimes has come through the flak it will make us stronger.

Cooper is good coaching kids, MM is looking a great requisition worked wonders in my opinion and it wouldnt be the end of the world if we stayed put and built a better spine/squad to go straight up. Because with all the Jack eyed optimism i honestly couldnt go through spending vast ammounts of money on mercenary barsixes stunting our growth. Buy Woodman if affordable develop, if not use Bender, keep experienced honest pros around like Wayne and Kyle and build a stronger squad to go up or have another shot.

Mind you i still want to go up this year and ill have to suffer thats football.

I for one have lambasted him on occasions but rightly so, he has the opportunity many occasions to make substitutions but didnt and not done so resulting in us losing points and is still doing it.

Imo he doesnt make substitutions because he doesnt trust his subs as he thinks they arent upto the standard of any of the starting eleven, by doing this it is making it even worse for him as these players arent getting game time which I hope doesn't bite us on the arse tomorrow, we got away with it on sunday but I doubt we will tomorrow.

We have been lucky to get 6th in one respect as other teams have capitulated allowing us to sneak in, on another side we have played well after the lockdown so thoroughly deserve our 6th place.

He definitely deserves the plaudits for what he has done with limited squad, imagine if the yanks had backed him in certain positions, we could have done even better.

Yeh thats opinions, for example everyone was raving about AA volley, but i was more impressed with Jay's set up we are all entitled.

Players decisions have cost us dearly (Celina can have a word with himself), although i agree sometimes we have needed subs to change things but Cooper and MM know the squad inside out.

Now the Yanks, im afraid to comment as im sure all of the fans resent them because they stopped some Chinese or Arabian billionaire investing billions. Do me a friggin favour would you invest in current climate and anyway have a look down and see some teams who have spent with abandon. Yes i will bring Joey back if Oprah can open her purse, and for gods sake find a DM who bo can win ball back. Any way off to pub for a few beers.

Sorry boys and girls I still think he’s Pretty much crap. Where we are has needed phenomenal luck. But I’d be happy with a bit more luck and a lucky fraud as manager rather than just a fraud. He seems to have struck lucky with a formation through injury when everyone except him could see we needed more width for about 7 months. If we go a goal up I reckon he will still Do his best to fuck it up by stopping playing and dropping deep like at Forest when we should have creamed them. All the press hype now is just that.

To be fair he has grown on me a bit and I’m hoping he does turn out to be super cooper, as the last thing we really need is more upheaval and compo. So yeah, I’d certainly hold my hands up but not yet. It would help if he hadn’t ruined Celina and if our best players were actually ours. Got to give him credit for getting them though. So I do.

I’m praying our luck holds but I’m surprised at people letting their corks explode just yet.

Edit, if he takes us up, I’ll be a fan forever mind you, no matter how he turns out. That might just save the club now. Who knows.

Like you I’ve got splinters in my arse sitting on the fence and trying to work him out. He’s clearly got the team playing for him and Celina maybe needs to look at himself. Game management is non-existent though and that’s strange. Maybe needs to have more confidence in himself and that will come with experience.

There have been those who wanted Cooper sacked. The majority seemed to want Cooper to grow a pair, be more proactive and try to take games to the opposition rather than passively reacting to them. For some odd reason there are those who think that Cooper finally doing what most of his critics have been asking for all season is an excuse to have a go at those very same critics.
