Summer Transfer Window

Of course not.

Although on the flip, in the other 10 games that he didn't play 90mins, we conceded 6 goals, won 7 and kept 7 clean sheets.

I can see why Darling came back into the team, both first hand and stat wise.

Just my opinion.
I think they can be strongly equated (bar the final game) that the majority of his games were when Luke was in charge?

Surprised Darling is still here...he must have Wrexham and Birmingham's offer put in front of him unless he is waiting on another option..
Well officially he can't accept any offers from another club until 1st June as he isn't "allowed" to discuss terms with other clubs in the EFL or EPL until he is in the last 30 days of his contract. Even if everyone knows the reality of that to be bollox they still have to at least keep up appearances or we could report the club he announced he will sign for for an illegal approach.

5 of them were, that's correct.

The other 3 under Sheehan saw 5 goals conceded with no clean sheets and no wins. Granted 3 goals were out last game against Oxford.......although I would arguably say that we wouldn't have conceded 3 goals if Darling was playing(that of course would be open to debate 😁).

Delcroix only real run in the team was the 5 games prior to Williams going and straight after that saw Darling come back into the team and a run of 3 clean sheets(which could be credited as easily to Sheehan as Darling or a combo of both, again debatable 😁).

A lot to be debated for sure but basing on what I saw and again it can be argued that it was fleeting and was he up to match fitness totally? It would be a no for me going into next season for Delcroix.

I would personally like to see a more physical defender who was far more comfortable on the ball than what Delcroix was when with us.
I would also say, it was clear that Delcroix wasnt the most physical of defenders even in those fleeting appearances.

Yup, 30 days. Thats why I posted 24/48 hours ago that when we hit June 1st there will be a whole lot more activity. Especially in the 1st few days then it'll settle down.

Players outside the English Leagues they can do it 6 months before.

Assuming we have seen the last of. HD - the replacement we choose has IMO to be able to command both areas in the air. A LOT of championship goals are scored this way.
For me this would be a big factor in recruiting

I agree. It's a huge side of the game at this level and I believe Sheehan puts a lot of emphasis on it aswell.

Yep, CB's can chip in with their fair share of goals.
Cabango gets a few fair play.
Mawson was probably the last one before him who used to chip in

If Delcroix was available on a free and for a sensible wage I'd be Ok with signing him. However I doubt either will be the case. I don't see him offering value for money. A more physical centre half is desirable. In that regard I'm surprised people are so sniffy about Santos, seeing that he's strong in the air and in all the basics of defending.

Delcroix obviously will not be free. Burnley will want to cover their last payment of around 800K. But Santos will not be free either.

Any out of contract player will demand a signing on fee from his new club. Harry wants approx 750k to resign with us. Santos may be around 250K.

So the difference in cost is approx 1/2m. Wages will be higher on Delcroix.

btw I am not sold on Delcroix. Just making the point that there are younger players than Santos out there with possible resale value.

Bashir Humphreys has signed permanently for £12 million. Hard to believe based on his performances for us, but clearly his year with us helped him develop, with Burnley reaping the benefits. Southampton have signed a 20 year old centre back with a handful of games in the German second tier. Shows how clubs are willing to gamble with unproven but gifted youngsters.

I'm playing footy this evening and one of our group is a Bolton fan so I'll ask him about Santos.

My impression of Delcroix was that he crumbles under pressure from opposition players easily and is highly prone to ball watching, combine that with a lack of the physicality that his size would suggest and for me he needs a season or two to toughen up in League One before he would realistically be ready for Championship level football.

Signing him permanently is a hard pass from me

I think he showed some classy touches, so there's definitely a player in there. He also only played a bit part in an unfamiliar side, which has to be factored in. He did well for Anderlecht, so I think he's better than he's shown consistently. But I would only sign him on a free for a sensible wage. I don't see that being an option.
