Summer Transfer Window

Eight new players on top of the two new ones?
Eight more sounds a bit of a stretch, eh?

We usually take at least three on loan, so let’s consider that happens again. But another five permanent, on top of the two?

It's a lot I know.
I did write up that a centre half or midfielder could cover a full back slot but I would say 7/8.

Given that we are losing
Christie
Delcroix
Darling(?)
O'Brien
Allen
Pedersen
Naughton

I won't include McLaughlin as I think Fisher would just step in to replace him.

Coupled with possible outgoings such as
Tjoe a On
Bianchini
Ginnelly

All from the squad we had at the end of the season, it's looking to be a busy summer.
I would add back up goalie to your list, so make it nine.

I assume we sent him on loan in order to reduce our wage bill. If that’s true then we won’t have him warming the bench again this season.

This post just exemplifies the state of our recruitment in recent years. A sad mix of dross, pointless signings and a lack of due diligence.

1 year left on contract, max transfermkt value 5m, and under 26

Lassina Traore
52 goals in 130 appearances for Ajax and Shaktar Donesk
14 goals in 30 appearances for Burkino Faso
24, 6ft
Sure he'd love to get out of that war and Donesk is in the front line

Dor David Turgeman
21, 6ft 1
22 goals in 71 appearances for Maccabi Tel Aviv
7 appearances for the Israel national team

Robert Bozenik
25, 6ft 2
Came out of Feynoord. 12 goals in 38 for Dusseldorf and Boavista in 3 seasons 23/24
40 international cap for Slovakia

Daryl Dike - I like this one !!!
WBA 24 6ft 2
Sub appearances mainly.
17 goals in 2800 minutes over 5 seasons.
Thht's a goal every 165 minutes which is a really high goal/minute number like Piroes.
11 out of 14 games came on as sub at end of this season for WBA
USA player, 1st appearance over here a loan to Barnsley in Championship with a reported 20m option to buy. Scored 9 in 19 before joining WBA
Transfermkt value 3m WBA paid 7m
Achilles injuries.

Anyway getting bored stopping there.

I put Fisher in on the idea that we will find it difficult to shift this summer but I expect there will be work to move him on.
If we do move him on then I would be looking at Evan Watts who turns 21 in September to step up as the no 2.
He has done well at Galway when called upon but has since gone out of the team because Brendan Clarke has returned from injury.

If we have that many incomings we will be like the Forest team in their first year in the Prem 🤣

I think our back up keeper will be somewhere between the two. The Fish might be too expensive and Evan Watt (whoever he is) might be too green.

Unfortunately this is where we find ourselves.
Players leaving coupled with players out of favour means we either give some a 2nd chance or we need to replace.

Do we give Yates,Mykolo,Fisher and Tjoe a On second chances?

I would like to think so but we might have to take the chance, save some money and go with a 21yr old as back up.

We won’t take that chance, no way. One late tackle, one awkward fall or one turned ankle away from having a rookie between the sticks for game after game? Zero chance of it.

If pushed then I would agree with you and the need of an experienced enough back up would be my call also.

Its going to be an interesting summer.

Perhaps we have star players already in the building? How Cardiff must regret letting Ebou Adams leave for Derby. His 99 tackles won was best in league, and his defensive stats are superb. 6 goals too. 7.20 average Fotmob rating. Probably made the difference between them staying up or being relegated. Would probably have had the same impact on Cardiff had he stayed. Shame...

Sammy Szmodics is another slow burner, just 7 goals first season for Blackburn, but 33 in his second.

The player most likely to step up a lot next season is Eom. He's clearly a class act. His final pass and shot has often been lacking, but the 3 goals he did score were all excellent. His ability to give opposing defenders twisted blood is second to none. I expect big things from him next season.

The surprise package may be Bianchini. He has pace and times his runs in behind well. His goal against Oxford was classy, so there's a player there. A strong pre-season could see him earn a starting place.
