Summer Transfer Window

Christie, first time with us he was good. But damn was he over weight, slow and just bad., second time. I am not a fan of everyone saying Santos is just a Christie replacement. Yes he will be back up, but others need to see what he can bring. Give the lad a chance he hasn't even stepped into the building as you said he comes with experience.
We have lost
Naughton
Christie
Delcroix
Darling-Looking likely
Pedersen-yeah I know 🙈

Santos at 3rd choice is a huge concern and surely isn't the plan?
I get it if we get another one in and one to replace Darling with the one being able to cover a full back berth with Santos taking the Naughton/Christie role from last season.

Well this was a positive post. As many said you don't just throw in under 21 players into a position to see if they sink or swim, especially in this role. You surround them by experience and or send them on loan to League 1 or 2. To say Montague has zero knowledge other than lower leagues is nuts. What do you want us to sign Harland from Man City. I am pretty confident that many if not all the recent signings has been positive step forward. Many slagged off Vigs. Look at him now. If this goes wrong then so be it. We need back up and with someone with experience. I would love an up and comer who could be the next big thing. But it's a hell of a risk and the club are not stupid.
I do agree the recent signings have been positive, I'm just not feeling positive about the signing of Santos.

I also didn't say Montague has zero knowledge other than lower league, I questioned his experience which is actually in the Confernece and L2. He may well have an encyclopedic knowledge of world football for all I know.

Don't get me wrong. This announcement of Santos doesn't get me off my seat. But Monty as I'll now call him 😂😂, has shown he knows the market and has done well already with Wales, And others. Yes proof is in the pudding. But it's a good start.

If a player is good enough then age is no barrier.

Christie played 276 minutes accross 11 games last season (and 66 minutes in the FA Cup). So if Santos is taking Christie's place in the squad then it seems to me that Lissah isn't deemed anywhere near ready and what does say for the academy pathway.
Parker is getting into the squad regularly and some game time. So the best talents can make it into the squads. Others may need to be progressed more slowly. We just need to be patient. The centre back position in particular is one where experience is especially valuable, so unless Lissah is very impressive in training a loan is the best move right now.

Montague isn't sourcing the players, player sourcing is down to our very own Dimi and Monty gets the deals done.

Saying that, I don't think that Dimi was behind Santos. Ricardo Santos has the same agent as Sheehan and the artist formerly known as Paul Watson.

My understanding is we are looking at getting at least another 2 at the back. It appears the darling situation might of pushed the hands of the club hence this happening the same week that we might hear the good or bad news with Darling. Who knows. Personally it's a bit extreme e to say this is a huge concern of a signing. The guy has experience and seems was managed not that great. If he ends up as a Pederson signing then so be it. But I don't see the club spending as much as they did on Pederson.

Who knows. Alot of rumours on if monty contributed to Widdel etc. At this point I'm happy so far with the signings and they soo can't be omg signings. Vigs was one of those. Look at him now.

Not saying it's a concerning signing although it is a little, more concerning that he is being signed as 3rd choice.

I see it
Right back-Key/ AN OTHER
Left back-Tymon/Tjoe a On
Centre half- Cabango/Darling(or a replacement)/AN OTHER/Santos

I can see Tjoe a On going meaning we need a replacement. I would think a full back to cover either RB or LB and the 3rd choice centre half being able to cover one of the full backs would be good.

So in sense, bringing in 4 defenders to replace Christie,Naughton,Darling,Pedersen,Delcroix,Tjoe a On.

Widell and Inoussa look good signings.
Wales is a prospect and exiting for the future.
Definitely more pro active and look like proper signings.

Darling
Norwich may be heading for a points deduction.
June 2023 27m loss - parachute payment season
June 2024 14 m loss - parachute payment season
June 2025 will be released at the end of this year. And that financial year has no more parachute money

They're already at the limit of £41 million or so for three year losses, so any loss will take them over the limit. However, they will probably be fine, given the allowable deductions. They probably spend £5 million at least on the academy annually, which alone would cancel a £15 million loss the latest financial year.

Well he can’t be less effective than Peterson? Surely not. If his experience and leadership extends purely to the training ground with limited minutes on the pitch, it’s already an upgrade! Let’s see who else is brought in before hanging the poor lad out to dry?

Edit. Sorry daps used the wrong quote there, you are right. If, as we all expect, he is an experienced back up for players we have lost this summer, then he looks a useful signing.

Agreed on the leadership in the group, we need some experience in the squad.

Where is this info we are getting 2 more at the back?

Will the sale of Sargent to Roma offset those figures?
