Summer Transfer Window

Lissah needs a loan for sure.

Still feel we need another CB who could possibly cover at RB.
Ideally we shift Tjoe a On and get a centre half in to replace and someone like Galbraith who can cover RB aswell as play central midfield.
Now that we have signed a c/back who can play on the left side of three c/backs I wonder if Sheehan will look at pushing Tymon and Key forward and just use two c/backs, bearing in mind that a defensive midfielder will be required to sit in front of either c/back who could cover where necessary.

Although I hope we resign O'Brien it does beg the question of who will feature in our starting eleven. O'Brien won't be on the bench, and we wouldn't have spent a fair bit in Widell for him to be on the bench either. So that would probably leave Eom and Cullen on the bench, although the latter may (mistakenly in my book) continue to feature as a 9. Having genuine strength in depth is a good thing, but it would be a shame if Eom in particular is sidelined, given the strides he made under Sheehan. Unless he replaces Ronald on the right.
Think of it in terms of strength in depth. It’s a long season with cup games too etc so the more the merrier. And competition for places is extremely healthy to maintain high standards.

These signings, Innoussa, Burgess, trying to get O Brien back, talk of more. Really exciting.

But.....

Where's the money coming from? Sorry to put a dampener on things.
Our owners have the money, but we must have a few new commercial deals lined up to help boost our PSR situation

A lot of these deals are being spread out over the lifetime of the players contract. It is a dangerous game but can work if planning and scouting is good.

We will need to rely on players being a success with a profit and big return on the transfer fee. Fingers will be crossed on Eom,Inoussa,Franco and Widell turning a few heads this coming season.

The Burgess signings has bucked the trend but we need experience and leadership in the squad after losing that in Allen, Naughton etc. Just putting that out there before anyone asks about the Burgess signing.

I'm liking our approach this window and identifying where we are obviously weak and need to strengthen.

However, I'm struggling with the striker situation especially with the lack of goals from midfield and Darling now also gone.

Cullen, Vip and Wales may struggle next season as 10+ goals each and we still have Yates and Myklo around.

Hopefully the journey this summer sorts a few issues out still

All good points. In the case of Santos, he provides good cover for Burgess. Their profiles are virtually identical, same age, similar height, strengths and weaknesses. Burgess' stats in Ipswich's promotion winning season from League One were remarkably similar to Santos' in the season before last. Santos won't have expectations of playing much and he has no resale value. The ideal squad player.

With players like Eom on the other hand, we can't afford for them not to get regular game time. He's too good to waste on the bench, and we won't get a good fee for him if he isn't in the shop window. That's why I think he features in the planning somewhere, and I can see us experimenting with playing him on the right wing, given he's right footed and Ronald is probably playing at his ceiling. I don't think Ronald will get a big money move, but his overall contribution will continue to be valuable to us.

I think we are pretty set up front. All three mentioned will be wanting to start games.

I think we will go with what we have on the basis that we have looked to strengthen our creativity in widdel and inoussa in particular, with another number 10 to come.

We didn't have a 3rd choice striker last year so wales fits that spot

You didn't. If the club hadn't done it, that would have been a dampener 🙄

It's been reported its all been spread over seasons so it doesn't effect all the issues. Plus we had a massive chunk of wages cut from all those players leaving. Darling would of saved us loads as well. Add into that we had money for Piroe promotion and few other things in the mix with sales, seems like clever planning by the club.
