Summer Transfer Window

Vague memory of someone saying we were watching him in January and that he shared an agent with someone here?
Could be wrong

It's both.

The signings we have made so far feel more like the sort of signings we used to make when we were canny and shrewd (2007-13). Top marks for that.

But where it's the same unfortunately is the familiar pattern of a flurry of early activity, followed by stasis later in the window. It's no different to the Kaplan and Levien/Coleman years in that sense. They dangle a few shiny new toys at us early on, then hope we don't notice when they do sweet FA after that.
Do we normally see a flurry of early activity? I’m not saying you’re wrong because I haven’t looked at the dates for previous windows but I always remember us signing practically nobody in June, one or two in July and then mostly panic at the end of August.

That’s obviously reductive but the early activity of this window didn’t feel usual for us, to me at least.

Joe Allen spent most of his time at the club crocked. He's not exactly been a vital part of the team that needs replacing. If anything Kyle Naughton is the biggest gap in the squad as it stands.

The club will be waiting on the prognosis for certain players with injuries. If they're expected back soon then focus will shift. I'd expect a couple of loans in certain positions. Maybe that's why there's whispers about the lad from Brighton.

I’d expect loans as well. And I agree that Naughton is a massive gap now he’s retired.

But I hugely disagree about Allen. He made 25 appearances for us in the season just gone and was an important part of getting us safe.

It’s an awful lot to ask of a young player with no experience at all at our level to be the replacement for Grimes / O’Brien /Allen. I don’t believe he was signed for that.

Edited to add: that may be the thinking on him long term but not for this season.

Most of Allen's appearances were off the bench if memory serves. He didn't feature at all in the first four games of Sheehan's tenure and started just three of the rest. Calling him an important part of our survival is pushing it a bit. Fulton played more minutes. A lot more.

Galbraith is 24 with well over 150 first team appearances behind him. We haven't paid seven figures for someone who isn't intended to be a big player going forward.

If we intended him to be the O'Brien replacement we wouldn’t have been trying to get O’Brien back. We will still trying after Galbraith was signed.

I think we will see another midfielder. Possibly a loan,

Govea has pretty much disappeared from any first team involvement. Mad to think. He looked promising. Maybe a loan is needed.
I saw Govea at Sheffield Wed away the season before last, which was a terrible match (both sides were awful) and whilst it was only a cameo (20 mins or so) to me he looked absolutley nowhere near ready for the 1st team both physically and skill wise.

Joe Allen wasn't signed with the mindset that he will be injured so that will be ok if he doesn't play! Same applied to Pedersen and Ginnelly!

We can't just not get a replacement because they were always injured and never played.

He wasn't and still isn't, I saw him recently and he is way off it.

Maybe I'm alone in this. But getting pretty bored of the links to players and being all false. I understand that's the nature of things. I'm just getting impatient with lack of movement.

I was at the Llanelli match yesterday and second this. Whilst he did look like one of the only players to make something happen (fairly selfish on the ball and constantly demanding the ball, but running into dead ends), his demeanour was like he doesn't give a toss while warming up and when he hasn't got the ball. If he had pockets his hands would be in them, strolling about. Skied a free kick at the end in a very good position to top it off. Mind you not many shone yesterday, quite liked the look of Deacon at left back and a few others were OK but no one looked ready for the step up, was quite a lot of u18s in the team tbf.
