Summer Transfer Window

Club absolutely spot on to leave Kone if the price is getting too. You're deluded if you think another 500k would be enough to land him. If we stump another half million, do you honestly think that Leicester are just going to walk away? No, and the players agent will encourage them to stick at it because they'll pay him higher wages. So when does this bidding war end?

What is worrying is that we're going after strikers this close to the season start. Says to me that the hierarchy cannot be convinced by Vipotnik. I hope we have back up options.

Yes - wouldn't stump up extra 500k by all accounts and now left with nobody for Saturday
Why should we stump up an extra 500k !!

If our valuation of the player has been offered then why pay extra, the risk on Kone would have been high and adding more to the risk would have been folly.

I am happy we are not getting into a bidding war, there will be plenty of other options out there.

Cardiff signing Gyabi on a permanent from Leeds.

V good signing for them and would have been a great option for us at 6
Good signing for L1, but only average at Plymouth last season whilst on loan.

Think he will be a Championship player eventually just not there yet.

There will be a lot more options especially abroad to the value they were prepared to go for Kone and even cheaper.
On a side note, certainly begs the question why they pushed for Kone, was Kone the best player they felt was on their database of players?

Heading into the Tuesday before the first league game then, and we're still at least 3, probably 4 players short.

Don't get me wrong, we are not a club at the top of the food chain, far from it. So the market is difficult for us. I get that.

But, I'm sorry to say it, it still isn't good enough. I think it was Lisa who said earlier that once again we appear to be just writing off 9 points before the window shuts. We should be better prepared than this. One or two players short you can sort of accept, but 4? Sorry, it's poor. It's not giving Sheehan the best possible chance to succeed.

There's been plenty to like about the new ownership so far - there has been progress, but it's still not enough. They need to be better than this. I hope they're learning from this, their first summer window.

Norwich West Brom Derby and Stoke all signed foreign STs for more then 5mill who are all of similar if not worse level then Kone. If you want quality especially in the ST position you have to pay. No doubt we'll end up gambling on another version of Bianchini for 2mill, and wondering why we're 17th come January.

Looked completely out of his depth to me. But then he wouldn't usually be playing if it wasn't for the injuries, so it's not really his fault. He's been chucked in at the deep end.

We need Cabango fit next week or it'll be a long old afternoon.
Plus he was up against opposition on a different planet to the Championship sides he’ll face

It's not something I have really thought about up until a couple of seasons ago, people are spot on that points in the first few games are as important as the last few games....these early games seem to be wiped aside as still part of the building process!

We are unable to pay the fees those clubs paid but there are players out there for the money we have to play with.
It's not just the striker situation, we have no natural cover at LB and a massive sized hole in the holding midfield position still not covered.

I was quite excited with the early business but I am starting to scratch my head with what the plan is here.

Vardy will make a comeback at Leicester.

Why even are Leicester fishing in the L1 pond with their network of scouting recruitment across Europe and Africa.

As for Kone... if he wanted to be here this would have been a done deal by now.

As others have said.. is the transfer really a value of the player

Bar Galbarith I'm really not convinced the window was as good as everyone was making out to be completely honest. If you look at our direct replacements for the players who left the squad has got worse again imo.
Darling>Burgess
Delcroix>Santos
Allen>Fulton
O'Brien>Widell
Inoussa complete unknown can't judge yet
Wales is a kid who won't play much.

This league looks 10x stronger then last seasons and I'm worried if we we don't pull our finger soon in the remaining 4 weeks we may be alot closer to a relegation battle then people seem to think we are.

The league isn't 10x stronger albeit it's more competitive throughout the 24 Sheff Wed apart . Once we get a couple more bodies in a few back from injury we are a match for half this division at least.
