• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

Barratt Homes have applied for planning permission to build houses there.

Was down the Mumbles yesterday, it looked like a training exercise with the RNLI

The views of Gower from the the coastal path from Burry Port to Llanelli's North Dock are incredible.
Great pic Dar

Turn to the left a bit there’ll be plenty.

And the sulphurous stink that wafts it's way to glorious Mumbles when the rare Easterlies wend their way.

PT - Such the blot on the landscape and disastrous to the environment.

Pan 180 degrees to the vast council estate.

Great photo, mind.

.

Tata works at Port Talbot is responsible for 5% of income for this country, it employs thousands both directly and indirectly, the pollution has been reduced markedly over the years. If it was to be closed the impact on pollution in Wales would be negligible, whereas the jobs and income lost would impact massively both on South Wales and Wales as a nation.

Just like people are disparaging of the valley communities today, many were happy to benefit from coal and steel at the time of their heyday, just look at the impact on Wales since their closure.

By the way the county of Neath Port Talbot has one of the highest % of green areas in South Wales in particular trees per % of population.

A much understated and friendly town, the odd smell or noise only adds to its charm.

Stunning post, William Wordsworth would be proud of that.
