Swansea City and Kim Hellberg: The Swedish Coach Tipped to Lead a New Era

The Championship is arguably the fifth biggest league in Europe, time to recognise that and stop gambling with this crazy idea of trying to unearth some unknown talent.

I’ll be amazed if the club appoints this bloke.

And you want who??

I just want us to appoint the right manager, if it's Hellberg then fine. Our two most successful managers of recent years came to us having only managed in Sweden and only managed at U-17 level respectively.

An experienced manager who knows how to build a team….no need to mention any names but I have one in mind and I’ll be amazed if he hasn’t been interviewed 👍

Why won’t you mention a name you’ve got in mind?

The only experienced manager from the betting list I would get excited about is Rodgers. But even if we could afford him (unlikely) it would still be very unlikely he would be interested in a return to us.

We’ve had a chance to bring this bloke in and decided he wasn’t up to it. Not impressed.

Who has said he wasn’t up to it? The only reason we didn’t bring him in the Summer is because we already had a successful coach in charge so why change it?

If we had the top scorer in the league last season would we sell him and bring in the top scorer in Sweden? Absolutely not.
Sheehan was on paper the top performing coach last year. We would have been mad to take the risk and change that

Exactly this I don’t know why people don’t understand this.

It’s interesting with Hellberg, no experience with English Football but that doesn’t always matter.

Regis Le Bris was successful with Sunderland despite not having any experience with English Football. Did well with Lorient in his first season but got relegated the season before he came to the championship.

Wagner and Farke both had success despite lack of experience. Both were actually coaches of Dortmund’s second team, maybe that’s where we should be looking!

Will Still, despite being English never had a job in football in the UK. Didn’t go well at Southampton.

Basically it’s all a gamble.

I think every potential candidate is a huge risk

Someone like Wagner would have been a bigger risk than Hellberg. He did well at Huddersfield for 18 months and was sacked. Also failed in his other roles in Germany & Switzerland.

From an outsider point of view - he looked like he did well at Norwich but if you dive into it - Norwich fans thought he was useless and should have performed better with the players they had.

He is someone who to me looks like he is on a downward spiral in his career.

Mentality & confidence is just as important in a Manager as it is in a player. Someone like Hellberg is on the rise - he will have a confident mentality and determination that someone like Wagner, Corberon, Mowbray etc won’t have and the hope is his fresh and forward thinking ideas will push us on

Someone on Facebook last night said we should be getting Ian Holloway in because he knows the championship 😂

The thing with Wagner is he’s very cautious and defensive not someone I guess the fans are after at this point?
