"Andre Ayew could miss at least two and possibly three of Swansea City’s key Championship matches if he goes away on international duty with Ghana."

"The Swans striker is due to captain his country in an African Nations Cup qualifier in South Africa on March 25."

As it says in the bottom of the article, clubs can block any international call up that results in a quarantine of more than 5 days.

Given what we're paying Andre and the importance of the fixtures he would miss, we have to block the call up and he'll have to deal with it.

Got to laugh, 2 minutes ago people were saying not to play him.

I believe they are saying this because they believe he should be rested, is that not the case.

Going on Ghana duty would be reverse.

I imagine 3 goals in 2 games will have changed those people's minds...

he's off at the end of the season, would we block him and risk pissing him off for the games left?

Only Andre and the club can judge that, but my guess is that he'd be fine with it. He's playing for his next contract and you have to think scoring a few more goals for us and potentially helping us get promoted will open club's wallets more than a couple of games for Ghana would.

Then again, I could be completely wrong and Andre would rate earning his 92nd and 93rd caps as being more important than his next club contract. Or that playing for Ghana will put him in the shop window more than playing for a Championship club does.

Liverpool have said their players won't be released, so at least someone else has set a precedent for us to follow if we do go that way.

There is absolutely no way that he doesn't know where he's off next season, the Ayew's a very good at that part.

He always comes across as someone that loves playing for his country and we aren't exactly the type of club that says no.

We will see, he does seem to want to get us back up. We'll know soon enough.

I would hope his 'love' for Swansea and the 'debt he owes us regarding unfinished business' would mean we don't even have to raise it with him and he has already told Cooper not to worry and he is staying and fighting the fight for his employer.

Oh look...flying 🐖

Seriously, I'd be disappointed if he can't see reason. And I still want him 'rested', that is, dropped as a guaranteed starter. I don't want him flying to frigging Africa to play though. Let's see Lowe or Whittaker with the diamond, or together in the 3-5-2, at least for 50 or 60 mins. Won't happen, obviously.

Under normal circumstances you would lose an African international every two years to the Afcom trophy for a number of matches. Different circumstances here I know. I think Andre's love of playing for country would eclipse his love of playing for us.

I don't think either would eclipse his love for wonga though 😂

Good points.

Your country comes first. Always. But especially if you are the nation's captain.

We knew this when we bought him, and must have considered it. Just play Lowe and Hourihane together and see what happens.

Lowe is right off his game at the moment, could be asking for trouble that.
