Swansea City Goes Cashless

Yes the world is changing but don't you have to be 18 to have a card

Some companies do let you add an under 18 to your card.

I had one at 16. The only difference was the limit to be overdrawn.

About 15 years ago I got to know the charges to retailers for accepting payment by card (can’t remember why). The cost per transaction on a debit card was £0.26p, whether £1 or £1,000,000, and the credit card cost was 2.7% per transaction. So you can understand why small shopkeepers only accept cash for lottery products e.g.

IMO large businesses like Tesco negotiate preferential rates with the banks though.

Daft idea. It’s quite common for cards to become temperamental with the strip etc…..

So this person can’t then pay in cash instead? Bizarre.

All on the phone these days

In 30 years you'll only be able to use a phone to pay and I'll moan while shaking my contactless card in fury.

30 years? We'll be paying with a chip under our skin by then ffs.

In 30 years civilisation will have collapsed and we'll all be eating turnips

I'm London, never carry cash, and a lot of cafes etc don't take it these days. Far more convenient.

The amount of people who cant use a card in some way is miniscule.

The world moves forward and you have to go with it.

No you haven't, we are being cleverly controlled little by little, until a time comes when that control takes over, because of the apathy society shows, people are being manipulated simple as that, online shopping is very convenient etc I know, but with that comes consequences in the form of fraud with the unscrupulous stealing peoples money and in some identities etc.

Fukme I feel like David Ike after writing that

Look at the difference from the time Mobiles came out to now, phones can do a multiple of tasks these days and we have all become reliant of the fuking things, to a point you feel a sense of panic if you leave the house without the fuking thing.

Genuine question, in what way is that controlling us? ‘They’ can see everything we do already.

I’m all for it myself, and ID cards. Stops loads of the ducking and diving and criminality that goes with cash. It will open us up to a different kind of crime but that exists now anyway.

Sign me up!

That's why I said little by little they are taking over everything we do, they're not there yet, mobile phones have made things worse as well, you probably got two with you 5 days a week like myself, both are tracked one way or another. :x

Nothing to be concerned about though? As you said every time we use a mobile, use a debit or credit card, store loyalty cards, cameras in town centres, cameras on motorways and police cars. Booking meals, booking holidays, getting paid, all traceable.

There’s probably a drone watching what you’re doing right now 👀👀🤣
