What an absolute load of baloney.. I must say, presented well, but when you actually dissect what you have said, it's all utter rubbish, well 85% of it, it's just a disguised post, trying to make out as a well meaning one, where in fact that's all you are doing is having a go at the Tories and Brexit.

I thought it was pretty spot on to be fair.🤔

And they're off 🐎

First Sunday night bunfight of the all new JAnet ... 💪💥

Sadly in my opinion, Tata wont build a new furnace, we are seeing the first steps into total closure,i am sure money people have other plans for the place.

Sadly I can't see this decision being reversed, unless there's a complete Public outcry which is unluckily and even if the was I doubt it'll change anything, ain't heard or read anything from Starmer I may well have missed it though?
The unions weren’t asking for a reversal though just to meet them halfway and keep one furnace open whilst the electric arc one was being built.
Just saying.

No need to apologise - emotions are high understandably.

You were correct that I’ve never worked there. My Uncle did (at that works). And my Dad. And Grandad. And great granddad, and great grandmother and her sister. Not all at Port Talbot, but for British Steel and before that the Steel company of Wales. My Dad worked for them when they were out on strike for months when I was young. I remember it clearly.

But they are conning people with the net zero excuse. Neither this government nor Tata Steel give much of a toss about meeting net zero by 2050. As can be seen from the government granting new fossil fuel licences and even aiming to grant new coal licenses. And Tata have a pretty bad reputation environmentally.

This is simply the closure of a loss making business which they subsidised for a long while when they were trying to get a merger off with ThyssenKrupp (prevented by the EU in the end as anti competitive).

The government subsidised the redundancies (effectively) plus the move to the new production which employs far fewer people so is more profitable. They weren’t prepared to pay the amount needed to keep the whole thing going. But not because of net zero, because (a) it would have cost a fortune (b) nationalisation was not an option for them ideologically and (c) it helps massively with the new trade deal they have agreed with India.

This government don’t seem to care even remotely about security of nationally important industry (the only exception being their pretence that new oil fields will somehow secure the UK’s energy needs - it won’t, but that’s a different discussion).

they are the ultimate free marketeers - extreme globalists who only care about making vast wealth for themselves and their mates. Hence huge migration figures, cheap workforce, removal of protections for the population, attempts to reduce standards in environmental issues, food production, employment rights, rights of protest, etc etc etc.

and they’re doing it all while creating culture war based bogey men - boat people, the ‘woke’, and now net zero. It’s the equivalent of the EU being blamed for anything bad for years. They do it in the hope that people who won’t EVER fall into their preferred group of the super wealthy globalist elite will instead decide to fear these new bogeymen and vote for these charlatans anyway.

same as they voted for brexit which was always going to screw them over. There have been interviews with workers at Port Talbot who voted for brexit. The plant’s main customer base was the EU ffs. What did they think was going to happen when trade barriers were erected (and remember that it’s only been a year where these barriers have been up really, which is why these decisions are being taken now).

People have been lied t9 over and over again, and they are being lied to now. It’s all about money.

I didn't mention unions mun, I was referring to Tata and the Government.

What? I have to explain what I think? Not happening, if you think I am wrong, then the onus is on you to explain, why I am. Many others think the same..

I think you'll find it's the person expressing an opinion who is expected to be able to back it up.

If for example, I said 'jack123 is a massive racist', I think you'd want me to provide evidence to show that wouldn't you? Or should it be up to you to prove you're not a racist?

What absolute nonsense, you have called what I said wrong, so the onus is on you to say why I am wrong.

Please point me in the right direction of any forum etiquette of such nonsense I would suggest that is just made up by you. So I stand by what I said 'Not happening'.

Great post, Lisa, and as you can see on this site, 25% of the populace still support the corrupt, incompetent gits, no matter how many times they get kicked in the stomach by them. There is no hope for some. Literally the turkeys queuing up to vote for Christmas.

Well, f*ck 'em. There are enough sensible people around to wipe out the Tory Party this time when Little Rishi finds the balls to call a General Election. And because of the screwed up FPTP system, we might even be ably assisted by their Nazi mates, The Reform Party.

I stood on the picket line outside Velindre Tinplate Works , 1982 , my parents worked there .

Current climate , everything green , thanks China and India , no challenge to your pollution ethos .

Moved on since , work and life , but Ian Mcgregor and Thatcher wanted to destroy Unions including NUM and TGWU , she had her way , Scargill did not call a workers ballot , his downfall .

Bigger picture is , however you dress it up , manufacturing in our area is history , sad times .

It's looking like little Rishi may not even make the election

Are they that stupid that they would consider changing their leader during the run up to a GE? Sorry, I realise I've just answered my own question.😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫
Doesn't matter, the party is in disarray all their greed, corruption and lies have nailed them to the cross, Bungle gone, the beyond useless Truss gone, both thrown out if truth be known and now there's a growing number that would like to Smiling boy Rishi floating off down the Thames as well.

Pity all we got is Starmer coming up on the rails, I've little faith in him, he looks to me like he doesn't know what day of the week it is half the time, where are the true working mans Labour gone, instead of this lot of new age politicians with wealth beyond their means who have never had to struggle to pay their bills.

Look where Corbyn got us. I agree he has much to do, but I'd far rather someone like him in charge with a record of public service

I'm not interested in Corbyn, he's another malfunction of the Labour party altogether. Some like John Smith Labour need, massive shame he passed away at the time he did.
