Tata

It has nothing to do with net zero.

Tata are closing production because it’s loss making - the net zero bit is a convenient excuse from them and a bandwagon for the right wing politicians and press in this country to jump all over As they don’t want to blame Brexit, or their obsession with non protectionist free market economics that make the few very, very rich and the majority worse off.

The U.K. government would not subsidise the losses, not would they invest in the natural gas supply or hydrogen supply to change production. They have subsidised Tata enough to keep the ’green steel’ element going.

people really need to stop believing the crap and open their eyes.
All I believe is the absolute fact that any excuse governments have got to make the hard working tax payer to pay more for them to waste and make up the shortfall they've caused, its been making a loss for more years than I can remember I worked in there for over 12yrs and seen and experienced lots of stuff there.

Apologies, for my unnecessary comments I made.

I've now deleted

What's the point of producing low quality steel anyway. AFAIK. That's what electric arc furnaces produce, due to the fact that the raw material used is largely scrap material and is of poor quality. I mean who would want to buy that. No expert obviously, just asking the question.🤔

Whatever the politics behind this it's absolutely horrendous for the workers that are going lose thier livelihoods because of this, never mind the local businesses that will struggle.
Fuck Cardiff Bay for now, start throwing money at SA12 for the foreseeable Senedd Cymru?

Unfortunately SJ, WG, has spent years ploughing money into Cardiff, making it more desirable for outside investment, only to the detriment of other areas of Wales, which have been crying out for investment.

lol Of course it has to with net zero, what I find funny is that you have basically contradicted yourself within the first lines.. o_O

For what it's worth, I'm not knocking you for your opinion, it's just that I would rather see a more pro active solution for this, rather than chucking mud. I mean, I know who I blame, it's WAG, but that doesn't solve the people working at TATA'S problems.

Tories privatised the British Steel Corporation back in the 80's.

Tories privatised the energy companies so now have highest energy costs in Europe.

Tories created Brexit which means no money from EU to help the area and workers when west wales and valleys are the poorest part of Europe and Port Talbot voted for Brexit.

As always you articulate the point far better than I ever could. How many more times do people have to be shafted before they wake up?

Thatcher alongside her Executer Ian McGregor included thought British Steel pius TGWU members were a pain , file alongside Miners , no votes in South Wales , get rid and more money for the then and finance the growing generation of Yuppies . Early 80s timescale I am highlighting here .

Scargill was trouble , Maggie hated him , unfortunately so much history and culture of South Wales has gone , another nail in the coffin for local people and traders in Taibach .

I fear for the genuine want to work person , possibly stuck in a tanning or pawn shop , no future they will feel living in Port Talbot , more bad news alas will follow after this announcment .

Scargill v Thatcher , a massive who drops your guard first scenario , pathetic , people paid not them .

Honest workers caught up in their bun fight .

Hats off to you Skip, I enjoyed the last part of that post.. That tickled me.

What's also as sickening as it was predictable is the cult of Corbyn making this all about the patron saint of Islington North

That might have set a Jackarmy record for how many times you can be wrong in just 5 lines of text.

Please explain how this is the fault of the Welsh Government if you're so certain.
