• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

Lots of typical merry-go-round names would be equally as uninspiring in my opinion. Only one I would be in favour of is Mowbray. I was hoping though, that we’d go for someone with more experience as a manager in general, not fussed on if they know the Championship. The league is over hyped a lot for me.
And people laughed at Parkinson at Wrexham. We are a basket case.

Also think managerial appointments are increasingly becoming a completely random grab-bag in terms of success. Manning at Norwich was a great appointment at the time, and we'd have 100% taken him here, yet he's led them to the worst start in the club's history. Still should have done much better at Southampton - even higher up, there was no reason for Potter to be so bad at West Ham, Andrews is doing much better at Brentford than anyone expects.

So much of the success (or lack thereof) for a manager at a club is unquantifiable 'vibes' that you really can't judge anymore*

*Rooney will always be shit
There’s definitely something to that. I always think of Kompany getting the Bayern job. Some experience with Anderlecht and Burnley but nothing on his CV suggests he would have been among the names for a job that good. Bayern saw his playing style and that he could manage a group of players that were above the level of their league (Burnley in the Championship) and thought those traits could apply well to them.

Obviously our situation is a lot lower but perhaps this is what we’re doing with Matos? He fits the style remit and supposedly changed the culture completely at Maritimo in a short space of time.

Obviously, the big difference is Bayern aren’t in danger of being relegated if it goes wrong.

How many reputable sources are reporting Matos? Genuinely wondering because from what I gather only FLW and one place in Portugal has reported it? BBC listed him as one of the candidates were speaking to.
Another fan site has reported yesterday it’s practically done and will be announced soon.

We can not be a serious outfit if we let the manager lead on recruitment or pick his own players. There is no reason to think he will know who to sign or have enough knowledge to benefit us. Unless we sell somebody and it may have to be Ronald getting getting an inflated fee from the middle east I do not think we will have much money to spend due to the summer splurge. Maybe 1 fee and change the loanees around but they should be picked by the recruitment staff and Matos should know this going in, even if he has final approval.

I agree on selling Ronald to the middle east.

How much would Notts Co pay? 😉
