• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

10. Cheeky twat. 🤣 I remember watching it with my old man though. BBC1. Peter West. Jim Laker, Richie Benaud and all that. One of my early sport watching memories.
10 ffs you pup, I was 20 in 81 and married in 83 cheeky twat indeed :ROFLMAO:

I had my accident in 1979 and used to go pop up on my crutches to see my Nan and Gramps most days cause mam and dad were in work and i used to really enjoy their company and my nan used to spoil me and Gramps loved the cricket so used to sit and watch it with him and learnt the game from him, great days sadly missed,

They are the days and those are the people who made us what we are mate.

I really value those days great days, I 'am what I'm by those values and the values that my dear old parents taught me, I miss them all dearly not a day goes by, my last surviving uncle who will be 99 this month is in Hospital due to a fall at home and breaking is femur joint with his hip, has just been moved to Baglan Hospital, Gonna get over and see him soon.

I remember it clearly. Watched it with my mam. She loved her cricket and we couldn’t believe what was happening. Better coverage as they had one main camera, so every other over was behind the stumps as Willis and Old knocked them flying.

6 months later little scared me packed my bag to seek my fortune in old London Town. It really can’t be nearly 45 years ago.
That’s frightening, where has that time gone? I was 28 then and was married for 4 years. 😳

Peter West broadcasting from wooden seats of the posh Members enclosure , a bench by the way , on an Alan Jones 50 v Surrey in the Gillette Cup way back in the day .

I had sneaked in as a youngster via a kindly gate attendant sat on his wooden stool .

He was live and professional in his match report , no spotlights or editing , all done there to a radio audience , TMS still springs to mind and their coverage even now .

Gillette Cup , 60 0vers a side and a total daily tally of 120 overs , get your monies worth of course and games finishing in in darkness on occasions .

Bazball needs a rethink against the better test teams. Saying that, this Aussie team is the weakest i can ever remember.

This England side looks a decent ODI set up apart from Crawley but for test cricket lots have no patience to grind out a performance.

As the Australian commentator called it " Bazbollocks". Not far wrong there is he? based on the results so far in the series.

I loved the Gillette Cup. I think the first game I ever went to was Glam v Herts in about 1968. Tony Lewis got 96.

Happier note in Australia - Asa Tribe got a ton for the England Lions. Massive respect.

Apart from Starc Australia's bowling attack is their second string, not sure when Cummins, Hazelwood and Lyon are due back.

Steve Smith 1 Jofra Archer 0.
The folk on the comms were trying to infer that this would benefit England mindset for the next match. I wasn’t on the same wavelength as them, Smith bullied Archer for the time he was at the crease.

Aggressive cricket is one thing and can be used effectively in right situation.

eg to score quickly and enforce a quick declaration

Pitch flattens and the star bowler is rested

Just smashing everything isn’t exciting and it’s cowardly.

As tuffers said “where’s the fight” a very small amount from stokes but funny that his strike rate was under 50

They should hang their heads in shame.

Best England team was the 2005 ashes winning team. They played to the situation and had aggressive players to take game away like big Kev for instance.

Should be an overhaul of the game after this and scrap that 100 shite

Tendulkar said once that he realised he was getting out too often driving on the up and so decided never to play that shot again. Not ever.

Some of these players need that kind of self discipline.

Basilball might come off once during the series, because it’s based on luck or weak bowling.
