• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

It wasn't that long ago that this news would have resulted in a complete meltdown all over social media. Testament to how Matos has renewed confidence in the club. (The rest of the leadership team deserve plaudits for a lot of what they've been doing, to be fair, but without that faith in our football performance, I don't think this news would have gone down at all well.)

Wouldn’t want him playing more than a handful of league games based on his past form, but no issues with him as a back up.

One less position to think about in the summer - which in reality would only be a like for like replacement.

Decent keeper who made a few mistakes and was hounded by some of the morons on here due to the manager who signed him, probably the same people who reckoned VIP was crap….mugs the lot of you

Was a bit of a marquee signing by Marty Pants so I'd imagine he was given a decent contract when he signed as a first choice. Can't imagine he's agreed to stay for less, so we're potentially paying slightly over the odds for a keeper that's purely a backup and not challenging for the gloves. From his perspective, we're clearly offering more than any potential suitors offering a frst team berth, which let's face are going to come from League One or SPL at the very highest.

Lots of supposition in this post, at least some of it is bound to be wrong.

Fisher's performances this season showed him to be perfectly adequate backup for our undisputed first choice keeper. This news would normally provoke minimal reaction, but he's tainted in the eyes of some for his association with Martin.

Not something I'd have done, but I don't suppose it's easy to find a keeper happy to sit on his arse for 95% of games.
I think the majority of fans were expecting a parting of ways come the summer and it couldn't be argued with.
Probably in his golden period given his age so is a bit of an head scratcher that he signed the contract given he is likely to be 2nd choice during the duration of that contract.
It must have been a decent offer for him to sign it given the circumstances I have mentioned above.

Fulton I would have given a 1 year contract but then again, he’s been very good of late, so maybe 2?
Fish is not for me, but I do trust the club these days so there you go.

Ah come on you know that’s not how it works mun. Make up something about reduced wages, and performance related clauses.

Fisher is more than decent as a back up. He was ruined by Russell, and his confidence was shot to pieces.

You think they would offer him the same wage he has been on since he joined?

Honestly, some of these obviously weren't around in the 90's, you wouldn't want them anywhere near you in the trenches.
🤣

Half of these plonkers would have been willing to give Petty a chance rather than seen as knocking the club.
People seem to get edgy with anything questionable and instantly take it as criticism.

Instead of starting a search for a new back up keeper without knowing what the end result would be, keeping the current keeper, whom is accustomed to the club, on a new contract reflecting his current status is a very reasonable move.
