The January 2023 Transfer Thread

So Luton sign Marvelous from Villa
West Brom sign Chalobah from Fulham
Boro get Aaron Ramsey (not that one)
Millwall sign Watmore

And we get a kid for the development squad from Citeh

So where are we going to be when Obafemi's loan finishes at Burnley in the summer? He isn't going to play in the prem league , Burnley have 8 front men in their squad and no doubt look to strengthen in the summer when promoted. So are Burnley effectively just paying his wages for four months?

We're an absolute shambles, the Scottish deadline is 11.59pm.. you watch us sell Whittaker to Rangers and we won't spend a penny because the English deadline finishes at 11pm.. honestly it's what we do

What's the difference? We're not going up, we're not going to be relegated. If we do miraculously find a defensive backbone and do a Cooper and limp into the playoffs we'll collapse against someone or worse get promoted and beat Derby's record next year with most of this squad including Latto at fullback, No point in buying anyone until the summer. Doesn't matter who we lose neither, as long as we get another 11 points.

Russ been kicking off with the owners they won’t give him money, doctors went home at 4, Winter sitting around smiling and Josh sitting around drinking coffee down Fairwood, all in a days work ay.

This is what has crept into supporters of the Swans lately.. a load of "we're happy to be in this division".. the yanks have poisoned quite a lot of Swans supporters these last few years.. the "we will give Russ another season if we get relegated to league one" brigade.. we took 40k to wembley twice, we're not some tinpot club anymore

True that. At the current trajectory we probably need another five years.

About 10 if we're being realistic, he forked out for two players for 2 million pounds from a midtable league one side, their stats speak for themselves, I'm a bit surprised, because Russ is all about stats and stuff, weird.

Onomah to Preston
Hoedt to Watford
Hutchinson from Chelsea to WBA
Quina to Rotherham from Watford

Then there's us and Cardiff

I didn't say any of that though Skip. I said it doesn't matter what we do today.

But, but we're after Ogbene who doesn't score at League One level up top, Russ doesn't use stats for players though

It does though, because we're playing Latibeaudierre and Sorinola at WB ffs

Because that's what Russy chooses to do. He has or had other options in terms of personnel or tactics, but this is the direction he decided to go in. We could sign ten players for a million quid each but the same berk will be picking the team.

I hadn’t realised until I saw a list earlier quite how many players have left us this window.

If Winter and Martin hadn’t been quite so prepared, I’d be concerned.

In all seriousness though, I’m not sure I can see the point. As Monny says, we won’t go down and we won’t go up. So who cares really.
Given his purchase of players like Fisher, Wood etc, loans that he never uses and the general strategy on the pitch, I don’t think I’d give him any money to spend if I was holding the purse strings as there’s not much sign he uses it well.
