The Official Swansea City vs Huddersfield Town Match Thread

i think both benches were a reflection of the game, theirs was like Play school outing , ours like the cast of Waiting for God

I dont think I have watched a game intently in all the time its played like this. I either find myself picking up my phone and scrolling through some things or just slowly nodding off to sleep.

That said I have found my enthusiasm slowly wane over the past few years anyway :(

Haha, me too, I ought to stop watching games on the laptop in my office which has a second monitor attached. I spotted an email that said one of my inboxes was 97% full so I spent part of the 2nd half deleting hundreds of emails with only one eye on the match which was on the second monitor. It's far too easy to get distracted from these soulless games.

Not just me then. Over the last couple of seasons the lack of tempo in games has been a real turn off, now the interest in games is at an all time low, where todays defeat was met with a shrug of the shoulders. Not asking for the world but want to see signs of consistent improvement but it does seem one step forward and three back.

2 forwards and one back imo. This season has been pretty good so far, building on the improvements at the end of last season. And I mean quality of football, not just results. Today was sh*te though - back to the worse of the non-performances at home earlier last season.

The lack of tempo in our game is the reason I won't pay £10 to watch us. I am quite happy watching highlights with Jeff Sterling.

I think its more common place than we know. I look at the people that sit around me and very few games in the past few years have we all been there at a home game. Prior to promotion to the PL we would have nearly all been there every game and even more so for the first 3-4 years in the top flight.

The moment we became defensive, the moments the club started paying Premier League wages everyone became more detached from the football club, Sponsors were - and probably still are - more important than supporters to the club and money became more important to everyone surrounding it. As others have said the tempo of our game certainly doesn't help but when you add in the behind closed doors scenarios of no crowd noise it's just not enjoyable.

The moment the shithouse board sold the fans down the river for their pot of gold I lost interest. Not spent a penny down there since. History now but we'll never have that back.

Yes your post does hit home.

Especially the second paragraph. Over the years of watching dross and thinking on the way back from games that why am I doing this? Well for some mad supporting reasons there was still a pull and I'm still here.

If/when I get to see a game in person, the team mostly won't be the players I last saw.

Now there are many various reasons for how I feel today especially the off field issues, but without going into a long post I'll sum it best with

I'm not leaving the club, but the club is leaving me

So if we go back up this year, you and your mates will return covid permitting? ] Me i love the supporting the Swans, what im watching now is a team in a rebuilding stage after a stay in the top flight which i enjoyed nearly every minute of, it certainly beats the bad old days. Everybody has to take a deep breath and perhaps just perhaps the Yanks owning us during these troubled times just might be beneficial riding out whats coming with a bit of luck.
