The Preston Party Thread!!! Now Locked - The Negativity was Tiresome!

Well I got no problem with him, and the likely attendance (good on the owners) but until I googled him at the first announcement of him becoming a minority investor, I had no idea who he was. 🤔

That's one for the demographic spectrum on this board.

Anyone else out there prepared to admit it ? 😊

Ps I knew who Modric was btw !
I know who he is but have never heard any of his music, being part of the old farts demographic 😃

I haven’t criticised anything at all about Tuesday.

Anyway - to be honest, this is hugely tedious. If you want to believe I’ve been negative, or that ARQS has been negative, that’s fine.
Found some advice for you, you're welcome:

Breaking Free: Strategies for Managing and Overcoming Nitpicking Tendencies

If you’ve recognized nitpicking tendencies in yourself or someone close to you, don’t despair. Change is possible, but it requires dedication and a willingness to challenge ingrained habits. Here are some strategies to help tame the inner critic:

1. Develop self-awareness and practice mindfulness: Start by simply noticing when you’re engaging in nitpicking behavior. Mindfulness techniques can help you pause and reflect before launching into criticism.

2. Challenge your thoughts through cognitive restructuring: When you catch yourself fixating on a minor flaw, ask yourself: “Is this really important in the grand scheme of things?” or “What would happen if I let this go?”

3. Set realistic expectations and prioritize: Not everything needs to be perfect. Learn to distinguish between what truly matters and what can be let slide. This perfectionist personality shift can be liberating.

4. Cultivate empathy and understanding: Try to put yourself in others’ shoes. How would you feel if someone constantly pointed out your flaws? Developing empathy can help soften the urge to criticize.

5. Practice gratitude: Instead of focusing on what’s wrong, make a conscious effort to notice and appreciate what’s right. This shift in perspective can work wonders for your overall outlook.

6. Embrace the concept of “good enough”: Perfection is an illusion. Learning to accept “good enough” can reduce stress and increase satisfaction in various aspects of life.

7. Communicate openly: If you’re on the receiving end of nitpicking, have an honest conversation with the person. They may not realize the impact of their behavior.

8. Seek support: Surround yourself with positive influences who can gently call you out when you’re slipping into nitpicking mode.

Remember, change doesn’t happen overnight. Be patient with yourself and celebrate small victories along the way.

Normally only starts 5 minutes before KO, ht usually shows stats and brief highlights with comms starting a few minutes before 2nd half to mention jacks from abroad, "jacks at home"
Cheers bud that's the same as what I get so chances are for viewers it will appear just like any other game and prob not even a sniff of the dogg, i'm sure the club are missing a trick.

Cornrows

Nah miles off with that.

Nobody will say a word is it’s constructive criticism, but there are a select few on here who seem hell bent of having a pop at the current ownership group for the tiniest of non reasons. It’s those people that others have an issue with. It makes me wonder if they are being told to act that way, funnily enough those people are only too quick to accuse others of being stooges for the ownership for exactly the opposite behaviours.

I’m not arsed how much someone is respected on these forums (if that’s even a thing) but when they are constantly and I mean constantly pick pick picking, then they are going to attract comments.

Someone mentioned that some are behaving like Perch used to do, and they aren’t far wrong either.

I would love to see you identify anyone who is behaving like Mr Negativity himself used to do.

People basically seemed to lose their shit because Lisa, while also pointing out it was great that we'd sold out the stadium, suggested they maybe missed a trick by not linking tickets. I don't agree particularly, but hardly seems like an OTT suggestion.

Funnily enough, I see a lot more posters who are very quick to jump all over even the slightest of implied criticism and find that behaviour far more suspicious personally.

As someone who has been around these forums for years, there's a bizarre trend at the moment for some posters (old and new) to get very defensive if anyone posts anything even approaching criticism of anything the club has done. Huw and the old owners used to get a harder time than the current owners, even when they were overseeing promotion after promotion!

Yes there are some that will moan about everything, but I don't see many of them around these days and I certainly don't see Lisa and ARQS as in that group. There's more posters who will jump down the throat of anyone who suggests things aren't 100% perfect in Swansea City land.

You are 100% right about that. This thread is a great example and totally bizarre, and I'm generally a happy clapper, always have been.

It's what's spinning me out about all this. I remember the aforementioned Perch getting regularly annoyed with me over the years for always putting a positive spin on things, yet now I seem to be on the other side of the fence somehow?

I'm loving how things are going at the club under Matos and that I'll be sitting in a full stadium tomorrow night, that my son gets to experience nights like that (and the Wrexham game earlier in the season) having enjoyed so many of them myself over the years. Yet apparently I should go be miserable somewhere else for having the temerity to suggest some people have gone a bit OTT in their seeing criticism of the club in the mildest of posts.

You’re not paying enough attention to the constant little one liner snipes if you’ve not seen them, im not highlighting every one for you. For reference, those little comments are not exclusively in this thread either.

I’m not going any further with this discussion as the thread is getting out of hand now and should probably be locked.

You call out posters who you see are behaving overly defensive and I’ll continue to call out those who are doing the opposite.
