The 'Vitor Matos' Managerial Thread

I just read this. What have they been smoking? Did they watch his last match he played for us? I like the guy but he need to go a long way until he is Premier League quality.
I’m not sure what you read, there’s no mention of a player in that piece (maybe they’ve changed it). It’s the usual FLW clickbait cobbled together from web searches. If you’re meaning Ronald, then yes agreed. I can’t see anyone getting anything more out of him. I’d be checking his passport carefully to see if he really is Brazilian 🤣

Huge gamble.. his challenge could well be keeping us up. He will want his own players so curious if gets given a Jan transfer budget. If not, he needs to change the dynamic of the current players

Would we have said the same if Chris Davies(Birmingham manager) had accepted the Swans offer 18 months back.
As I pointed out last time someone asked this, Chris Davies operated at a significantly higher level for years now than Matos. He was assistant manager at. Celtic, Leicester and Spurs.

Matos has been an assistant for a few months before they were sacked. And now a dozen games.

Lots of managers fail with the biggest resources and best players. It is still an achievement to take a side just relegated and turn them instantly into a juggernaut. That does not guarantee that he is a perfect coach who deserves years of grace based on that achievement, but it is not nothing. Especially when it is the only job he has done so far and the only thing he can be judged on.

I think our squad is more balanced with better competition for places, especially than how it finished last season. As for your last sentence, even when I am agreeing with you or acknowledging the credibility in your points, you seem to get aggravated. This is a place to have discussions and we are having one.
Juggernaut - what a ridiculous thing to say.

I have kept my counsel on this Matos link.
I feel it's a gamble, a choice that will see big rewards especially for the people who are making the call to potentially appoint him.

But with these type of calls, big rewards can come with big repercussions and this appointment could make or break people.

Its going to be very interesting if it is this chap as much as it would be if it were Brendan Rodgers......no appointment is guaranteed success or failure.

We can not be a serious outfit if we let the manager lead on recruitment or pick his own players. There is no reason to think he will know who to sign or have enough knowledge to benefit us. Unless we sell somebody and it may have to be Ronald getting getting an inflated fee from the middle east I do not think we will have much money to spend due to the summer splurge. Maybe 1 fee and change the loanees around but they should be picked by the recruitment staff and Matos should know this going in, even if he has final approval.

All managerial appointments are a gamble

Looks like we are trying to push through to get this announced for the weekend.

I would assume he won’t be in the dugout for Saturday unless we can fast track a visa.

With dust settled after the Hellberg situation. I'm still gutted but who knows if it would of worked or not. Either way Matos is reported to be an attacking minded coach quick press and fast transitions. Something we have lacked for a while and when we have done this in glimpses we have really shone. Bring it on I say.

Indy reported could be done within next 24 hours. But O Dea will be taking charge of the team on Saturday. Whatever happens. My prediction is Matos will be in the stands.

Can’t say Maritimo highlights look impressive but it’s limited what you can see on YouTube, hope the gamble pays off.
