There is no money. We're in a mess.

Like I said, this mess is down to the owners

I’m not convinced Martin knows what he’s doing, but yep the (lack of) leadership from the owners or their representatives is the fundamental problem. We were lucky to have Birch in hindsight - he made a couple of great appointments and supported the managers more (although easier then as we had parachute payments).

If we’re now in a position where the game is too expensive for the owners, they need to feck off. Having to sell with such a piss poor team as this is a very bad sign. Things will only continue to get worse under them.

And that's why us fans need to stop repeating the same fucking cycle of pissing & moaning about lack of investment but then we shut up for a bit once any new signing comes in (even when he turns out crap) and when we win a few games.

Sacking Martin is an easier option but we'll still have the same shit show ownership and the same players we can't get rid of.

Just feel fans need to get more creative in showing how unhappy they are with the club.

"You can either take your frustration out on the team or really stick behind the young men."

This, and only a few days after hanging one of his players out to dry (who wasn't even playing) for spunking away a victory in injury time...

Hypocrisy of the highest level.

It's saying that while acting as a mouth piece for the ownership that makes me angry!

He must know that Whittaker or Joseph would have been a better option on the bench than Josh Thomas? No offence at all the boy.

Whittaker or Joseph would offer more than Cullen, never mind Josh Thomas.

It's the same kind of nonsense we saw with Cooper. Refusing to use the options available and then complaining about the lack of options. You need to make the best of what you have available, which is something we're far from doing.

Is the current squad really any weaker than the one that made the playoffs two years in a row? Even if that team had Ayew, this one has Obafemi and Piroe.

Those two squads certainly had more depth about them. We’re certainly missing a diamond loan signing this year, Guehi or a Gallagher.

I'm looking at the squad that lost the 2021 playoff final now.

Nine of the 20 players involved are still at the club. Six or seven are still involved with the first team. Of the notable players who left (we'll ignore Kieron Freeman), Guehi has been replaced by Darling, Ayew and Lowe have been replaced by Piroe and Obafemi and Hourihane, who everyone hated anyway, has been replaced by Paterson and N'Tcham. Conor Roberts is arguably the only one totally unreplaced.

If the current squad lacks the depth of the previous it's because RM has packed off those he doesn't want.

The players need to take account of themselves as well .
Some today need to look at themselves and ask themselves did they really bust a gut today?

Some also need to be honest.....and if that means saying to the gaffer " I don't fit in with your style of play I totally struggle to understand you"......then all credit to them.

In fairness to Martin that was the last year of parachute payments and so to compare the current squad with that one is a bit unfair I’d say.

So the question remains....everyone knows that Whittaker, Garrick and Joseph are better options than what we had on the bench today. Surely Martin knows this too. So having loaned them out and offloading at least some of their wages......

To what end? I assumed it would allow Martin to bring in at least a loan? That's turned out not to be the case. So was Martin under the impression them going would allow us to bring players in? Or is them going purely a cost cutting exercise?

I’m glad we are not going to continue living beyond our means.

The reality is that Martin has a pool of decent championship players, some ok, some below par, some well above par and he needs to grow up, stop whinging about every single thing and start managing his resources properly. I have no doubt that Guidolin for example could make what we have a very competitive outfit. The main problem lies with Martin.

The problem is, I think we still are. They're just at the end of their credit line.

Bang on about the squad though.

I know it sounds crazy, but wouldn't mind losing if we showed a bit of guts, and if we were playing players in their correct positions and allowing our young players to cut their teeth.

Congreve and Cooper showed more promise in their short cameo than Sorinola and Ntcham did the entire game (albeit the latter is down to Luton cutting him out of the game, after he dominated the 1st half of the Millwall game).

The players need to shoulder their fair share of the blame, and so do the majority owners, but it's not Kaplan and Levien drilling these players on the training ground, it's Russell Martin.

I do have some form of morbid respect for him that he sticks by his principles, but I think we have reached the stage where something needs to change. His tactical decisions yesterday are baffling. He played Manning at RWB, Naughton at LWB, and allowed Piroe to aimlessly wander around midfield.

We have loaned out Whittaker, Joseph and Garrick. Simultaneously, Martin argues that his job is to "create assets" and bring through young players. So why loan out these players? Surely they could have offered us something? It's not even as if we can recall them, because EFL Regulations don't allow us to do so - i) within the first twenty-eight days of the loan, and ii) outside of a transfer window.

Oh well, eleven days left of the transfer window - let's hope for a miracle!

Yes we have a limited budget but that applies to most Championship sides. The big problem is that Martin is making shocking use of what we've got through a combination of questionable tactics & selections.
He's been backed & allowed to bring in his own players & he's weakened the squad.
Fisher isn't as bad as some make out but does anyone think 400K for him was a good decision given our limited budget.
Sorinola is another one of Martin's poor decisions from what we've seen so far - nobody else to blame there.

I mean, Obafemi and Piroe are arguably the best strikers in the championship, and Paterson was one of the best attacking mids/wingers too

But possession football only works if you limit chances to concede, we've conceded 10 goals in 6 games

We're a championship club refusing to make loan signings when we have no money because we want to have 'sellable assests'
