They just keep on giving, don’t they?

They think Giggs should be a target for next manager. Lol.

You cannot be a premier league club unless you stay there. To just get there and not be good enough to be there is just being a championship club out of your depth.

Unlike us, they have not been a top table club for 60 years. Big club my arse. Average middling club. Sleeping giant? No. A Sleeping Mark Drakeford. Maybe.
They are no bigger than an Oldham/Barnsley/Brentford.
But don't mention the Kingsway in the 80s, they go into fckn overdrive.
Well they did win the FA Cup in 1827 mind ...

If they had a little think about changing the way they hoof, sorry play, then they may get somewhere. Let's not tell them though eh?

They won the FA cup??? 👀

I’m surprised they haven’t mentioned that 😂🤣😂🤣

Winston is being generous with 4,500.
Went with a Tranmere supporting mate in 85/86 with barely 3,000 in. Even better then the rovers thrashed them.
Support was very valleys reliant then. Not the Robert Barker-dressed fantasy of Anus. Plenty of decent fans where I grew up, not like the delusional and fickle lot in the city.
Biggest underachieving club in British football given potential fanbase

Much of the valleys support was due to the travel time. Now that the travel time is about the same, the split in support has evened out. They have done well to get two promotions but two quick relegations is poor form. The potential is there for sure but the damage to their support has been done by not staying up. The more fickle fans will watch and follow Premiership which is a lot more entertaining if you can stay there and be competitive, rather then hanging on for the odd result against the odds.

I don't see their fanbase as all that bigger than ours, if at all. We've both gone from a hardcore of about 3000 during the nadir of the 90's to about 12-14, 000 now courtesy of the new stadium effect. We'd both sell out a 30,000 seater for games against top sides in the Prem and about 25,000 for most others.

The Welsh sporting public has always been far too fickle to assume anything more than that, and that transcends football. I can remember when the rugby team was so bad they had to offer tickets for sale in Tesco. I've seen them lose to France in front of about 20,000 in the old Arms Park.

Comments like that feed their fantasy. Winston is spot on

There was a year, probably in the 90’s with someone like May or Hibbit in charge where they were so shit that only Torquay finished below them in the league. I think Torquay survived because Stevenage or whoever was due to come up didn’t meet the criteria but around that time Crapdiff got less than a thousand in Onion Park for a game. Of course Soccer Sunday was all about whether they could make the playoffs. 😂. That’s the sort of shit that their fans lap up up and the reason that people like Abandonedpotato have a ‘career’.

While i agree with the sentiments, i would say their fanbase is bigger. They have the population of their own large City, another City down the road, large towns like Barry and the Valleys all of which have transport links designed to funnel into Cardiff and all things being equal they would probably have a few extra thousand on our attendances. However, pound for pound - with our lesser transport links&smaller population of catchment we outdo them.

Their comparisons to Everton, Newcastle and even Norwich who have out achieved in football and attendances for generations are just laughable. Large catchment area means absolutely nothing if you never capitalise on it.

Newport won't provide them with that many. Barry maybe. Some of the valleys they get, some of the valleys are more Rugby. Some even sway our way. They have a larger catchment area, but that doesn't automatically equate to a fanbase. You might be talking a couple of thousand floaters here and there. Certainly nothing to justify the kind of superiority they believe that they're owed.

Do they still believe the people of Port Talbot predominantly support Cardiff?

No definitely not - huge delusions.

In reality a lot of people living in Cardiff who've moved there through work etc don't care about the football team. Its just type of city.

Metro area population of 1.1 million. Swansea is 470k. Just illustrates their complete failure as a club. We get around 4% of our catchment as a crowd, they get closer to 1.5%. Shows how unattractive they are as a proposition and the fickle nature of the ‘sophisticated’ Cardiffian
