• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

Things that annoy you more than they should

It doesn't annoy me as such, but I wonder why people do it to themselves every December...people who go out and do their Christmas shopping, presents and food - and actually walk around the shop with a trolley. F that. I get it for the elderly, but I sit down at the computer with a glass of wine and bash out all my shopping in one go, straight to the house - and do a click and collect for my food shop. Maybe it's because I'm a grumpy grinch c*nt (more likely).

I hear you I think it’s because some odd people enjoy it and enjoy the “buzz” of it all.

I always try as best as possible to avoid trolleys to make sure I only come back with what is required. Two reasons, no impulse purchasing and in and out as quick as possible.

Indeed - I see posts from people on Facebook saying 'avoid Fforestfach/Trostre!' with an accompanying picture of a mile tailback to get out of the car park...and I think, what the F were you expecting?!

I can’t get my head around people that are happy for a supermarket employee to pick their food for them. Fuck that, I want to inspect every inch of the fresh produce I’m buying and I’m picking them from the bottom box or out of the drawer, not the ones that are on top.

Savvy shoppers are in and done by 7am 😎

I loves an online shop and home delivery. Haven’t done a big shop at a supermarket since Covid.

Yep, I’m with you. My Mrs doesn’t like food shopping, I quite like it and it allows me to influence what’s on the menu. I’m not quite done by 7am, but not far behind.

I will agree with you re the present buying part. Ambling around M&S in search of a present for someone, which they haven’t usually asked for, is a painful experience. It’s either shopping online or monetary gifts.

I was in a church in Neath just now watching my youngest grandson’s class singing and two male parents sat through the whole service wearing baseball caps and it really irritated me.
People that press the button at traffic lights or pelican crossing, and then have crossed the road and 50 yards away when the green man comes on . WTF, I was 50 yards away from a set of lights and could see a young guy on a bike waiting to cross. There were no other cars on the road and to make matters worse there was a bollard half way across ,so he had to cross only about 15yds initially. Jesus , if he couldn't manage to make a simple decision to cross the road without any assistance god help him on any other important decisions he has to make in his life.

Not everyone can do that NJ.

That’s a traffic light issue, not the fault of the person. There are a set of lights I use regularly where it takes upwards thirty seconds to change. It’s not an overly busy road so it’s not a case of sensors keeping traffic moving. I have seen other lights which change almost instantly.

Go shopping before 7am as per your sentence.

"Savvy shoppers are in and done by 7am"
I never suggested they could. Exactly the same as not everyone is able to book their shopping online like the poster I replied to does.

I love a food market. We have a local one around the corner here on a Saturday. Swansea market - what’s not to like? Naples Barcelona, Bari ? Online food shopping? Last resort when I eventually end up housebound. 🤣
