Tony Santore aka Davilin RIP

I did wonder where he was from time to time. As educated and polite as he came across he certainly wasn't afraid of an online dust up! I'm sure he goes right back to the days of JA.net and I remember him flouncing off once, which was hugely comical at the time iirc, and he sent me an invite to a forum he was setting up called 'Swansea Friends', but then he forgot about it because he came back. I don't remember, or I don't know if I ever knew where his connection to the Swans came from?

RIP Dav.

..... now where's Warwick?

I remember him setting up that forum now you’ve mentioned it.

He sent me a folder full of poems he’d written a few years ago.
They’re here somewhere probably in a box in the attic.

I can’t lie mind they were way over my head.

RIP
Mad as a box of frogs. Thought the world of the Olchfa Toby Carvery.

I didn't know Dav at all, but I remember him being one of the first posters on PS I started noticing. Very sad to hear the news. RIP Dav.

I was always interested to know how he ended up in the US as I presumed he was originally a Swansea boy?

He was born in Bethlehem,Pennsylvania.

"Gridiron" was my favourite reply to him.
I exchanged PM'S with him and he told me he'd been an English teacher.
A talented man who had my respect.

He was born in Bethlehem,Pennsylvania.

And had no familial connection to Swansea. Didn't his son (or someone) meet a coach from Swansea at a Soccer Camp which is where his interest in the club was formed

And this was around the mid 90s I believe, where there very few redeeming features on the surface.

This thread has inspired to see what the old forums knocking around around 15 years ago are doing now

The old guest book (now scfc 2) seems to be still alive

BBC 606 forum, which was rebooted as not606 once the Beeb shut it down, still going strong.

Swansea.vitalfootball is one bloke talking to himself.

What others did I miss? Apart from the obvious incarnaitons (jackarmy.net etc)

Intriguing, Dar. So what was his connection with Swansea and did he often visit? I'm assuming he did from some of the posts in this thread

Just seen this thread. Thanks Darran for posting.

I had an odd relationship with Tony. Spoke frequently via the old guestbook, swanmail and private email from 2001 ish (hence the name). Always had a very cordial and friendly relationship which, for reasons I never really understood, turned quite sour. Lack of empathy on both sides I suspect.

Tony was a true fan. Took an interest back when interest was less than fashionable. And the interest and passion never faltered. He was, quite genuinely, a Swansea Jack. I valued him even when I fundamentally disagreed with him. He will be missed. And remembered.

Rest in peace Tony.
