Not bad for someone who has no left foot![]()
Exactly, I could see there is a good finisher there and with increased confidence it will mean good things ahead for Vipotnik and the mighty Swans.I think people sometimes get lost in the riches afforded to professional footballers and forget that they are human beings like the rest of us.
Vipotnik has had a pretty difficult time over the last couple of years, moving to a different country and a totally different type of football isn’t easy, how many of us have slotted into a new job and felt comfortable from day one not many I guess.
He obviously has quality otherwise he wouldn’t be an international player and I think we all can see that on his day he’s a fantastic finisher, let’s hope that his current purple patch is a sign that he’s finally settled down in his new surroundings and can go from strength to strength.
Listening to this makes me realize just how badly we have been mispronouncing his name (and Swans TV too for that matter)![]()

Zan Vipotnik = Jan Viptoonick
Even more than that, he had only recently moved to Bordeaux before essentially being made redundant 10 months later and subsequently having to move abroad AGAIN to find work in another new country after that.People continually overlook the importance of confidence to a strikers game.
Vipotnik upped sticks to another country at a relatively young age after effectively losing his job, then spent the first two thirds of the season playing for a moron who had no idea how to use him. Despite this he scored more goals from the centre forward position than anyone else we tried there.
He seems to be in a better place at the moment which is being reflected on the pitch.
Don't forget his amazing assist against WednesdayEven more than that, he had only recently moved to Bordeaux before essentially being made redundant 10 months later and subsequently having to move abroad AGAIN to find work in another new country after that.
Then is the aforementioned time spent playing for a moron
That's four goals in four appearances now for club and country including two equalizers, one winner and one goal taking the lead. So none of them are "nothing goals"
I believe it is Zhan Vee-pot-nick, with the surname given equal (and quite short) weight to all three syllables (unlike, say, the way Italians often put emphasis on the penultimate syllable in a word)Listening to this makes me realize just how badly we have been mispronouncing his name (and Swans TV too for that matter)
