• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

And for completeness I'll answer your question. There are ways that clubs can hire EU nationals as staff - Matos himself being one. However due to Brexit, working here is no longer possible for some (people working outside of top tier leagues).

Again simple- no Brexit and the staff are able to come. Brexit and the club need some sort of special dispensation which is not a certainty.
Is this the football board not replying to you personally by the way

What made you think EU freedom of movement would continue unabated after Brexit then?
I'm pretty certain stopping freedom of movement was the number one issue for people to vote for Brexit, "taking back control of our borders" and all that, which obviously worked out very well!

If we were still in the EU we'd have the coaching team Matos wants, we aren't, so we don't.

Absolutely

It also limits the pool of international players were able to recruit as well. It’s far less likely we’ll be able to unearth unsung talent. Players like Rangel probably would reach the points threshold for a visa these days.

But it’s not all bad. At least we can admire our blue passports while spending longer times in immigration queues 🤣

I've had problems with Brexit myself, I left my glasses in France recently whilst working over there, my company has tried to return them but customs have impounded them, it's been two weeks now and still no glasses.

I think the Matos backroom staff need to get on a small boat and they will be in Swansea within the day.

Using Brexit as the excuse is absolute bullshit-tier logic.

Can't see many other clubs having the same issue; has Hellberg for the same problem? This instead comes down to preparation -- by the club and the pro-EU government.

I'm not saying there aren't further delays now, but let's not kid ourselves -- post-Brexit failings are caused by your incompetent UK governments only half-arsed attempting to make the process work while failing to negotiate more efficient and better terms. Weak governments create problems such as this - and just liked that this has now become a politics thread!
UK has left the EU single market therefore EU citizens cannot freely come to the UK to work.

It was the tory government who created Brexit and did the hard Brexit deal.

You can't leave the EU and still enjoy the benefits of being in it.

Ridiculous situation 🤣
