...the next level - some very depressing reads around this morning

If only there had been due diligence done before the club was sold.

Old ground I know but this all comes back to the desire of many people to sell the club to the first people who stumped up the cash

And the sale was always for the good of the individuals and NOT the football club.

And the Brighton player was just the icing on the cake for the way that was handled - but absolutely no surprise

Absolutely sickening this morning reading the articles, I haven’t really jumped on the owner bashing but today they can truly do one, the club can still be run on a sound basis with a little bit of investment as we can now see how little investment O Riley would have cost us, same with the Brighton guy to pull the plug last minute is not good business and just causes tension with the management team, the quicker they sell the club the better I think.

I think what concerns me as much is how the information got to Mitchelmore.

It's likely a very large division between team management and owners. Never a good sign

Some extremely concerning reads this morning which takes the gloss off of keeping Pato and Piroe and (eventually) filling the left wingback shaped hole in our squad.

The O'Riley situation was disappointing but (allegedly) committing 300k per season for five seasons including this one might sound like small potatoes but if that model ends up being used a lot can add up quite quickly to unsustainable outgoings.

The Brighton news with the owners pulling the plug last minute was more concerning for me. Raises a lot of questions (especially with the numerous times RM went on record to talk about owners needing to back him in the window) over just how much the owners are prepared to go after our priority targets.

If they hadn't sold they would have just creamed off as much as they could instead, as it had become all about the money, for some it always was. We'd still be here I think. Jenkins thought he was a Roman Emperor and a football genius and he ran us more or less to here anyway. You could argue we wouldn't have inflicted Bradley on ourselves and stuck with Guidolin, and with that alone, I reckon we'd have more chance of still being PL, but that's a bit moot. What they did was break all their promises and put us back 'in play'. They used our dreams to construct a pretence for their own benefit. I can't forgive that.

Actually, I've just read your post properly. With due diligence then better owners with more sympathy to our outlook? Or just richer ones? I don't think they would have found that option and so they defaulted to their core naked self interest that they'd always hidden while spinning their deceit and pretence. We were "Just another Football Club".

That said, aren't this lot running us in 'our way' though? Live within our means? My greater worry is who we could be sold on to. Anyone thinking that a sale will release a shower of cash is, I fear, doomed for disappointment.

For me, we threw it all away in 2013, not 2016. We've almost certainly seen the best days.

I have never got involved with the owner bashing, but the noises coming from the club at the moment, along with Mitchelmore's article today, speaks volumes I'm afraid.

As for Mon's comment above, I can't see there being a great deal of people in the market for a football club at the moment, nor do I think these owners would contemplate selling for a loss while we are still only a miracle season away from the financial paradise for them.

The thing is, I don't think we've got a bad pool of players now. The issue is if Martin has been led up the garden path or promised things not delivered. Potter and Cooper both had faces like smacked arses at this time of year too. And, as said, someone is leaking. The thing that's still bugging me is Wolf. What the hell is that all about when we refuse a primary target almost over the line. It's hard believe they really know what they are doing with any clear thinking.

It's not likely to end well again is it?

In the event the club is not bought by a billionaire willing to spaff his money down the drain I see the best option as being fan ownership , to enable that might take a relegation or two

Yes something dodgy about Wolf. Look at virtually all our signings - all linked to either Martin or Allen previously. Wolf is very different. Smells a bit like Arriola to me. Is there an American ownership link?

Wolf could become a lower level Sanchez if he doesn't deliver. Took a huge chunk of our budget for little or no return.

Let's hope that he delivers although having said that, what could he deliver at best? Upper mid table as opposed to lower mid table. It's a terrible strategy to be honest.

Not going to knock the players as I don't know enough about them. Put trying to think objectively we have signed experience in Christie a young keeper still learning his trade. A LWB again just starting his career. Then 2 loans one being an U23 player and another from Germany just back from injury. Now it could all come good but it's papering over the cracks. Without sales what will be different in the summer?

But is the Brighton midfielder really a priority signing with Dhanda, Fulton and Pato staying?
If Fulton and Dhanda had gone then I'd agree he was apriority.
Are we doing the owners a disservice here?
