Looks like it’s about to be rubber stamped for next season.

I’m one of the few it seems that’s all for it (as long as the EFL are happy.)

The Welsh League clubs are almost unanimously for it - not only will it bring in more money for them but will actually make it easier for League of Wales clubs to qualify going forward - If Swansea, Cardiff, Wrexham or Newport progress into Europa League proper then it boosts the FAW coefficient meaning more European places and starting further along in the qualifiers for the competition.

We did it in the past and had great adventures.

Bring it on.

I’m also all for it.

We’re all going on a European tour, etc.

Total minefield.

From day 1 I've been 100% against it, and nothing since has changed my mind or thoughts.

I was hoping (slightly) that new ownership would be our turning point for the better but imo this mindset goes against a level playing fields for competitions we are playing in today.

Extreme view but what if in the future, there is a league restructure required.

I'd guess 4 Welsh clubs will count for nothing.

Also we are relying on a 1 in 4 chance of qualifying every year, without the threat of a cup upset by a Welsh League team.

Small squad, no injuries, extra games

Even the money side won't be a big benefit.

8 extra games for our paper thin squad and the need to somehow cram in the 8 midweek fixtures later in the season.
Will make relegation far more likely.

These new proposals are even worse. It will throw out any Welsh clubs beneath the Cymru prem of the competition altogether. So not a league cup at all.

From my understanding the four clubs have agreed to forego the revenue generated to give to the FAW.

And this also means that qualification via traditional methods (e.g. Premier League top 7, Carabao, FA Cup win) is also removed for the four clubs.

Does slightly remove the incentive for the aim to be successful at the top of the pyramid. Not that it's ever likely but...

We want to be successful, so our aim is the Premier.

Example

If we finished 6 then the 7th team would qualify. (Good for them)

If in the semi final of the FA Cup we beat a team, we can't qualify through the final, but the beaten team have lost the chance of qualifying through the final.

I'm sure that would go down well with opposition club and fans.

That's going to go down even better.

It's setting a big precedent and in reality knocks our chances of getting promotion IMO. Of course next season we would just be competing in the Welsh League Cup with Europe only possible the season after but it does beg the question to an extent of what is the point in playing in the Carabao or FA Cup?

Would the Welsh League Cup draw need to be seeded? Seen some say that we wouldn't be allowed to play Cardiff until the semi-finals for example

That's a big question, do they want the 4 clubs playing each other in semi finals?

Do we play a weaker team in the 2 earlier rounds. Chance of being knocked out by a club playing their cup final?

A European trip can be a positive but doesn't that start in June? Is our playing period going to be close to 11 months.

What does that do to contracts and signings?

Or would we just play a weakened team.

After yesterday maybe I shouldn't make that comment

I think it starts in June as you say. No doubt we would be playing with a Harry Darling for the first few games before he buggers off to sign for someone else on July 1st.

I'm sure the owners of thr "big four" believe that this makes the clubs more attractive (and probably more saleable) but are ignoring the bigger divide it creates with the English pyramid.

Parroting my comments from the last time this came up in conversation - nothing has changed imo:

''This leaves a bad taste in my mouth. We've made our bed of playing in the English Leagues (which, let's be honest, is still a vastly superior option for us as a club), it would be uncouth to say the least if we now decided that we want to jump on a much smaller competition for the sake of being in another competition that we have no chance of winning.

Doesn't show huge support to Welsh clubs that we're planning on rocking up and stealing their place in Europe, either''

''Selfishly, the ideal for me is a single season in the Welsh Cup, we win it straight away and qualify for Europe, then use the bounce of being in Europe to attract a higher-calibre player, whom carry us out of the Championship. Next season, back out the Welsh Cup, ask for all to be back to normal, and we're sorted. No dramas.

Absolutely none of that will happen, and as such, I remain strongly against the idea. You either play in the English Pyramid, or the Welsh, can't expect to be able to piss about with both.''

Mixed feelings about this one. I'm quite excited about the possibility of playing in Europe on a yearly basis.

Does this show a lack of ambition by the club? Just thinking back to our league cup victory and the route in to Europe via winning that.

If we're in Europe does this make us more attractive to potential signings?

If we did win the conference league does it mean we play in the europa league the following season?

I know you're just hypothesisng, but there's absolutely no chance that we - or any of the Welsh clubs - come close to winning even the Conference League.

We just got completely turned over by the worst team in the Premier League, and we're expected to compete against genuinely high quality sides from Italy, Spain, Netherlands, so on?

It just feels cheap. Joining the Welsh Leagues (but not really) so that we can claim to qualify for Europe is no different to rocking up to a 9th Birthday Party, winning the pass the parcel, and then showing off your prize as hard-earned winnings
