West Brom and Whittaker, Burnley and Obafemi – transfer window latest

Agree he should have a chance, surely offers more than Cundle/Congreve & Ntcham at this point, but apparently he wants out and wants the move to Rangers so don’t think there’s any coming back for now.

Yes, but maybe he only wants out because he has no faith whatsoever in Martin to play him and use him properly like Plymouth have done. If he thought he'd play and be managed properly, he would probably be more inclined to stay but can't blame him tbh.

Yeah fair point but not even Steve Cooper wanted to give him a chance, and actively looked for expensive young loan signings elsewhere, can’t blame MW for wanting to leave he’s never had a look in under any managers apart from Plymouth, plus he had a bang average loan spell at Lincoln so wasn’t exactly going to come back this summer and force his way in.

Where does this view come from that Steve Cooper didn't give him a chance?

He signed in Feb 2021 having turned 20 a few weeks before.

Within about a week, he was being brought on against Manchester City. He had a few more games off the bench in February but mostly was an unused sub.

From mid march, he appeared in 10 of the 11 matches between then and the end of the regular season (didn't feature in the playoffs), starting 3 times and coming on at half time in another.

His other 6 appearances were 1 minute (twice), 4 minutes, 36 minutes, 26 minutes and 13 minutes.

Didn't feature in the playoffs and then Cooper went.

I think that the above more than qualifies as giving a 20 year old a chance.

What loan signings did Cooper make between 1 Feb 2021 and May 2021?

Cooper used him off the bench when Lowe was struggling for form & looked knackered, Cullen was injured.
As soon as Cullen was available again he was used ahead of Whittaker who as a result didn't figure in the playoffs.
Cooper said he wasn't ready.
After a season & a half on loan he really should be given a chance in our first team now though

According to Sky Sports News Rangers valuation is way off what we want for Whittaker and he’s likely to be involved with us Saturday, can’t see that happening unless we’ve decided to keep him now.

The Buns wasted £2.5 million on Rabbi Matondo from Schalke 04 in the summer so can't see them paying out another couple of million on Whittaker myself, even though Whittaker is a far better prospect than Matondo imho...

I must admit, the thought of getting rid of Obafemi and Whittaker this month does make me nervous. That is losing a lot of goals - in the case of Obafemi, proven in the championship.

Better pray Piroe stays fit...

Never mind stay fit let's pray he can find the net again like last season, he's been a ghost this season.

Paterson in from the cold? Few murmurs

Just saw he’s posted himself in his swans gear again online… fucking typical, we seriously must be struggling to get any deals over the line.

Ooohhh, it’s like a new signing.

A crap one.

His spells out of the team apart, he's been poor for a year now. Contributed little even when he has played

What's the chances of Whittaker being an unused sub on Saturday. Sending out a message to Rangers etc that they need to up their offer as he's in our plans.

We don't play again till after the window closes.
