What Ewe Watching

Re-watching The Detectorists - a brilliant British comedy. Short episodes, likeable characters and well written - nice easy watch. Would highly recommend

Try Ted Lasso on Netflix if you haven't seen it yet and want a feelgood comedy to watch. There are plenty of clips on YouTube if you want a taster.

Just finished Landman on Paramount, absolutely superb. Paramount are the top dogs of the streaming mobs for quality I reckon, not much quantity though.

Three coolest characters 😎:
Rip from Yellowstone.
Tommy from Landman.
Edris Elba as Luther.
If we're talking paramount, Randy from South park.

Yep, prefer it tho to Gangs of London. That's just fckn mental and totally unrealistic.
Yeah but is so over the top it's ridiculous, it's awful and that's what makes it so watchable.

On another note we watched the first 2 episodes of the Diamond heist docu on Netflix , at the time I worked the front counter at Greenwich nick and was in the backyard having a cig(as you could in them days) when they brought them all into custody, whilst waiting outside to go I had a chat with one of them. Theres a few faces in there that I know (police I stress!!)

Bosch Legacy on Amazon Prime, maintains the high standards set in the original series when he was a cop. Now he's a private investigator, often working for Honey Chandler, meanwhile his daughter Maddie has joined the LAPD as a rookie, or 'boot'. Great viewing

My problem with Bosch is i read the books, And the series are all over the place. Like season 1 was books, 1,12 and 14 or something. so I had to get to book 14 before watching.

I was just about to say exactly this. If you haven’t you must - absolutely superb!!

Yes, I came to the novels first too, I'm a big fan. When I was living in Hereford, I once took a day off work and drove up to London to attend a talk and book signing by Michael Connolly in Waterstones. Everyone there queued up to get their book signed, which took ages because he had a little chat with everyone.

When I eventually got to his table, I asked him what he thought of the film they made of his novel 'Blood Work' starring Clint Eastwood, possibly my favourite novel of his. I said I thought it was a dog's breakfast. He'd never heard that expression before and was amused. He agreed with me about the film, where Hollywood had radically changed the plot, but he said the fee he got made up for it!

Yes, the TV series is a mish mash of the novel plots, but I think it works. Notice that Mickey Haller never appears in the TV series, I think he sold the screen rights of that character to the makers of the film and tv series 'The Lincoln Lawyer'.

I agree and Titus Wilever is nothing like the Bosch I imagined. Funnily enough I feel the same about the Grace TV series. John Sim is a good actor, just isn't my idea of Roy Grace

Agree about Grace, especially the bloke who plays Branson, not so much his looks as the whole feel of the character.
Then again, if Tom Cruise can play Jack Reacher I can play Miss Marple.

The same can be said for Will Trent, from the karin Slaughter books. The tv adaption doesn't even try to match his looks, or demeanour

I read all the Bosch books before the tv series and the problem I had was not the mixing of the books but the changing of events from the books themselves. His wife, for example has a different relationship with him, I think, in the series.
If you’ve not read any of the books, which are superb, the series as a standalone is excellent. I have to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed the tv series also.
Just to add that Titus Welliver is not far off what I imagined Bosch to be like and he did a great job with the part.
And one of the best parts was the jazz. Suited the mood every time. 👍
