What I don't like about Williams

Govea also looked promising in the few substitute appearances he made.
He did and now he can't get a sniff of the first team.

I understand if the players in the team playing in his position were performing.

Frustrating that he seems to insist on the development of MPH over any of own youngsters who are probably equally as good if not better.

Plus they're actually wingers.

I'm not going to join in the pile on on MPH. I thought he did quite well against Sunderland but was poor yesterday. He is however, much like Abdulai, paying the price for LW's insistence on shoehorning players in to suit his style, rather than adapting that style to suit his players.

I can remember all the shit Latibeaudiere took when Russy stuck him out wide. He did his best but clearly shouldn't have been there. Same thing here. TBH I'd be more tempted to play Franco in the deeper role, MPH through the middle as a ball carrier with Eom or Cullen at #10 until we can find someone better. Give Grimes a boot up the arse.

I can just imagine these new breed of managers trying to wire a plug using a spanner.

Who said football was a simple game which was complicated by the people of play it?

Ronald being the obvious one. Full of running and impact when he first got here. Struggling for months now. I really don't think the way we play suits any attacking players. We're just so slow getting the ball into the areas that matter.

The complete neglect of the u21's whilst people insist that he has no options is getting rather tiresome too. There's no way that Nzingo shouldn't at least have made some appearances off the bench by now if our wide options are as poor as some claim.

There were a few runs into space yesterday which were totally ignored to go robotically backwards. If I played for this team, I wouldn't bother making any runs either.

Whatever random pick finds themselves on the wing is clearly instructed to check back and play it 30 yards backwards. It's pathetic. I hate watching it. My mind is made up. I was in the 'hope he improves' camp with you, now I'm in the 'get the WIlly out' camp, even in December.

What I don't like:

Coming into the job taking about pace, how we need pace in the team and to move the ball fast. Yet, here we are after a year, playing - more often than not - slow, sideways/backwards football deep in our own half, and have MPH out wide, a player who shows some capability, but is never in a million years an attacking wide-player/winger.

When we signed Ronald and the polish dude, we looked like we were opening a new chapter in our play, we had some games where pace down the flanks really was a threat. But here we are a year later and that's all pretty much gone. Completely disappeared; we've given up on that entirely. Polish dude has left, and we signed Bianchini, however Williams gave up on him after 20 minutes and here we are. Ronald's almost given up on even trying to make runs given there's a 95% the ball will be cycled back to Grimes/Darling/Vig anyway while Williams stands there watching it all in silence.

It remains the truth that the no 1 factor in a team's league position over time is the quality of their squad, so anyone calling out Williams for not getting this squad gunning for promotion is mad; but you should still be able to see what he is trying to do, how he sets his team up to play, the attitude of the team, even if the quality is lacking to get consistent results. Right now, I don't like THAT aspect - and that's something in his control, irrespective of squad strength. There's no there, there, right now, so everyone is largely bored sh*tless, both the team and the fans.

I have a sense I'm being too harsh and simplistic here, but I can't shake the feeling there's not a lot more in Williams than what we've seen and I'm not sure it's enough. We'll see where we are again in the summer; maybe the January window will be kind to him and we'll have a boost from that.

I have to agree with you. I've always been in the "give the manager some more time" club, but I haven't seen improvement in the team and more importantly I haven't seen any improvement or growth in the manager.

We'll be safe this season (Oh yes we will) so this is a risk free time for the new ownership to bring in their own manager, and I think that they should do so.

After the Hull game in his post match vid, Lukewarm had the look of a dead man walking. Bereft of ideas, eyes glazed, with that look of a man who’d forgotten to take his winning Lottery ticket, out of his trousers before taking them to the dry cleaners.
Apart from a few good halves of good football, in general his lack of tactical awareness, inability to change formations, make substitutions that made us worse, passing sideways & backwards, and walking football, it’s hard to see any difference between him and his mentor, who’s just had his P45.
It’s a boring, boring product that will eventually drive even the most ardent of loyal fans to stay away.
If he doesn’t inject some energy, enthusiasm, tactical nouse, into these already ultra low in confidence, mainly mediocre players, for Boxing Day, then a fast improving QPR will run rings around us.
These new owners haven’t invested £20 million to see loosing, bore fest football, in an empty stadium.
Loose these next 2 home games, and the word that’s used when politicians are often found out, could apply to LW, untenable

Willy is on the ropes, flailing desperately.

We have regressed from his initial promise of more expansive wide play. We are now ever more tight, congested and turgid.

He’s realigned to Martin’s flight path- Boosting HIS possession stats above all else, at all costs, including winning :
- inverted FBs to cut inside and retain possession
- this squeezes the tight middle so Matty has to drop deeper - to retain yet more possession
- wide players neutered, becoming obsolete, shouted at to cut back in and recycle through the already congested middle - to retain possession

Martin all over again.

More and more of the laggard fans are now catching on. Williams’ days are numbered, he’s been found out for being a fraud of the fraud Martin. ‘Doube Fraud’.

Some of us called him out from the outset, we read his script, we watched him descend into the same place he was sacked from last time.

Get flaccid, flailing, flopping Willy out of our Club, ‘prompto’.
