• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

WHICH Magazine carried out a survey ranking 100 British seaside towns, and Swansea did well.

First was Bamburgh, Northumberland
Fifth was Aberaeron, Ceredigion as the top Welsh town. The fact that it is more difficult to get to than others in that area apparently was a good thing (?).
34th was Swansea with the following ratings: Beach 3 out of 5 / Attractions 4 out of 5 / Scenery 4 out of 5 / Peace & Quiet 4 out of 5 / Value for money 4 / 5.
99th was Weston-super-Mare
100th was Skegness: Rated 3 out of 5 for the beach, and 1 out of 5 for all the others.

This article will be in their June edition.

I went to Skegness about 4 years. I found it depressing and totally overhyped.
We don't realise what we have here in Pembs and Gower.

Not sure what the big deal is with aberaeron , its a nice place but nothing special

Agreed. Had some lovely trips to the Harbourmaster there with the missus and will probably do so again in the future, but if you're there for 2-3 hours, you've seen everything it has to offer.

Just got back from St David’s, it’s very busy down there. Aberaeron is nice but doesn’t come near to the St David’s area imho.

Used to stay in St David's regularly with work, had some great nights in the Farmers 👍

Rated our beach 3 out of 5.

I take it they didn't visit Caswell, let alone Pobbles or Oxwich.

They rated Skegness beach 3 ffs. It's on the North sea. Aberavon beach is better than skegness

Been going down there for over 25 years...a special place.

I met Simon Calder (tv travel journo) in the Marina earlier today. He was down writing a piece on Swansea for his podcast.

He was a nice guy and very complimentary about the area . It would be good if we could get something out of staycations this year, Swansea bay is underrated as a tourist destination.

Absolutely, think it falls out of favour as it is not as geared towards tourism as some of the more fashionable places are and people in the wider UK still snobbishly see it as a post industrial hellhole.

If the job market in Swansea was a little better it would be up there with the best places to live in the UK imo, great mix of city and nature. It's the only reason I no longer live there.
