Whittaker taken out of squad today

Dock him a month wages and put a transfer embargo on him for a further month.

Tbf do you blame him? Everyone believed that he wasn't going to be coming off the bench and it was a ploy to get a higher bid.

This is him putting his foot down after being described as an asset to potentially sell by his own manager.

On the face of it no, but football is a strange industry.

Again on the face of it there does seem to be things not right at the club.

Whether

Owners
Club management
Team management
Players

Or a combination, but there is so much coming out this season it does point to things far from being well.

As I've said before I don't think I've ever seen so.much coming out about problem players and bad eggs. When we came out of the Prem that was when we had some bad eggs but now? Not sure I buy it.

As Dr said above three players striking in the space of six months? It's utterly bizarre and points only in one direction

FFS. He signed a contract here, if he's asked to play he should damn well play

The club could fine him.

We don't know what was said to him when he came back from Plymouth, as info from the club has been contradictory at best

Even the language used doesn't change.

At this point it seems apparent to me that there are individuals within the club using media outlets to control the narrative. It's not the first time it's happened here and probably won't be the last.

It seems that there's a standard tactic used to force out players that he doesn't want. I think someone even predicted somewhere that it wouldn't take long before Whittaker was painted in a negative light. Hey Presto. There it is.

I don't think it matters what was said to him. If there's been a change of heart somewhere behind the scenes and they now want to play him, then suck it up sunshine and get your boots on, you're under contract and you play

Players these days just thinking they can down tools and refuse to pay, absolutely laughable.

Even if he was on the bench today I'd think 0% chance that he would have played.

Games are being played - and not on the pitch

It's his mental health mun

I tell you what footballers, get down Orchard St clinic or the Cwmbwrla day centre and see what the term mental illness truly stands for and then we'll see if you're still comfortable making such serious claims

I'd wager a decent chunk that he was never asked to play today

We bought him back as we knew there was a fair chance we maybe able to sell him. Martin pretty much told us so

I think that you may have hit the nail on the head here. Perhaps a preplanned scenario.

If true that he was only going to be put on the bench today as a tactic to try and get interested clubs to up their bids, with no intention of him coming on (and therefore making a sale practically impossible), then I'm not really surprised he's told the manager where to go.
