Widell

You can see he has quality. As others have said, he needs time and the physical aspect will improve. He’s definitely not afraid to throw himself into a challenge. Also, playing him wide in the second half didn’t help him, he’d be best playing central as a 10 in my opinion but we seem to be sticking with the two 8s at the moment.

Of the summer signings that have played only Galbraith and Burgess look like cementing a start at the moment. Hopefully time will see a few others commanding a starting position.

I’d say Inoussa has looked good too, definitely needs to start for us. Didn’t understand some of the criticism of him last night. Stamenic also looks good from his two appearances and will probably start by virtue of being the only kind of midfielder of his type that we have.

There is a huge difference between English football and any other football. A few years back I met a footballer who played in la liga and the premier leugue and asked him about it. He told me that it took an adjusment and that it felt like the PL was twice as hard: the speed of the game, the physicallity, the fact that you get less help and protection from the ref. and the Championship is not different.

I see a player in Widell, I think he just needs some time. (Same for Inoussa)

To be fair, I imagine Galbraith and Burgess would have been the two signed with the intention of them going straight into the starting eleven. They are the two most experienced players we signed this summer, with the exception of Santos and and Farman, who were both signed to be backups.

Wales, Casey and Yalcouye are all young and inexperienced, so unlikely to become first team regulars early. Inoussa and Widdell are both 23 and more experienced, but new to British football and from leagues where the intensity and quality are lower so both will need more time.

Stamenic is also 23 and not played much in this country, but he also has plenty of European (including Champions League) and international experience, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him starting soon.

Inoussa wasn’t helped by being on the right instead of his favoured left, nor was he helped by not having a team mate within 30 yards of him most of the time as Fulton did his usual disappearing act

That’s also true, he still looked dangerous while playing on the wrong side and I thought put one or two decent crosses in. End of the day, we’ve only seen him in cameos mostly and he’s looked good in all of them. Really need to get to a point where he starts now though.

Right now I have rated his performances above Eoms. He deserves a start against Wednesday with a competent midfield to support him

Despite not scoring or assisting for us yet, he has looked the biggest direct threat to his marker out of all our wide options so far this season for me. Also was vital to our goal against SU. Once he gets a run of starts he’ll be one of the first on the team sheet.
