Wrecsam

League 1 and 2 you can get away with ageing quality. Dont think you can at this level.

Do you have any evidence to back this up in the form of other clubs doing similar, or is it just what you hope will be the case? I do agree that signing older players is a risk, because you don't know when their form is going to drop off a cliff. Wrexham have seen this in Ben Foster and potentially that's why they're getting rid of Fletcher. The worry about ageing players suddenly declining is why it took Liverpool so long to re-sign Salah, they really wanted a 1-year extension only.

Like NJ and Dr.W have said, Wrexham have not done a lot wrong so far and have just achieved something no club has ever done before. I'm not sure why they're all of a sudden going to fuck things up.

I bet a load of League 1 team's fans were spouting similar to what's being said by some in this thread this time last year.

1. No evidence other than watching 57 years worth of football which means jack
2. I dont hope it will be the case. I would like to see them be successful
3. I didnt state it as fact. I said "I dont think you can at this level"
4. I am not saying they are going to 'fuck things up"
5. I am not knocking the historic achievement they have made.

I was just passing on my opinion. Nothing more. Cut me a little slack

As it stands their business model is healthy, just because of the Documentary. The sponsor money they receive is way higher than that of a normal football league team, because united airlines know millions watch the documentary.
Their owners are rich people, but not rich in comparison to most championship team owners id imagine. So when the documentary starts to get stale and Disney eventually bin it. Sponsors and added revenue streams will die off, then the Hollywood stars will have a dilemma of how much of their own assets they start investing, which I think will be the point in which they look for a way out.
They've already bought big shares in the Mexican team Necaxa, so they also may find that project a distraction.

A relegation fight will bring drama for the series, ( edit: So would a promotion run again) so I'm hoping they just get a lower end mid table finish a few years in a row.

They are all in for a massive culture shock. Championship is a fckn nitemare as we've witnessed for years. They won't be rolling over teams week in week out.
I think it's mid table at best for them.

Wrexham is easily big enough to naturally support a L1/Championship club and should never have dropped out of the league. They have a decent stadium and facilities and it’s not a bad area to live. They are at level which is sustainable without Hollywood, albeit punching slightly next season. That should be treated and considered same as any other club with momentum and we should be looking forward to dispatching them back to where they came from when we play them.

Their stadium is a shithole, it'll be the smallest in the division, by some 6000 seats I think. Its also really just a small town. Swansea which is still just a small city, has 6x the population of Wrexham for example.

They probably shouldn't of dropped out of the football league, but to say they should naturally be a Championship side is a stretch. However we all know that's not how football works. they're in this division because one way or another they've earned their place.

They could well do another Ipswich, depends on who they recruit.

They are having their new stand build presently ready for next season and have the potential of mid and north Wales as a new support catchment area. Can't underestimate the support they could gain but they could lose that just as quick as us and Cardiff have found when entertainment and novelty wears off

I was up there recently, it’s not a shithole although it is currently under development at one end. There’s been plenty of smaller clubs in the championship over the years and they are growing. It’s not a stretch for them to be a L1/Championship club on their own merits.

Haven’t they averaged out at L1 level over their history? Could swear I heard or read that from their fans or maybe even on the documentary. Wrexham is tiny and I question the potential in north Wales, again that’s hardly a populous region and has always been a Liverpool and Man U heartland? League one seems more like their true level

Same could be said about us.
