Euro 2025 - Women

They didn't leave anything out there on the pitch, but you could see the gulf in class and experience, when the Dutch No 9 scored her 100th international goal.
Miadiema is a very good player, even knocking on a bit. Par result in the end against the second worst team in the group. 2-0 loss would have been a good result. I do fear for them, especially against the English lasses, who are probably the second best team in the world after Spain.

I’d really recommend the documentary about the Welsh women’s team on the iPlayer at the moment. Talk about an eye opener. Makes Wales look like a medieval nation (or at least the FAW). Bunch of sub standard committee men in suits running everything as per.

This squad have battled against unimaginable odds for years.

So proud they’ve got to a finals. Really hope the documentary shames the FAW into proper investment. They will kick on given half a chance.

Late 60s early 70s tere were 2 or 3 girls from where I lived playing, at least 1 played for Wales, one of the girls living in our street used to join in our kickabouts and could really play a bit, sadly womens football was totally ignored for years.

3-0 was harsh, Netherlands hit the bar a twice mind though. Thought Ella Powell and Ffion Morgan gave us more punch up front when they came on. Lilly Woodham and Gemma Evans were outstanding too. Did us proud 👏

I haven't been watching the tournament, but was following along with BBC Sport's live updates for the Wales game. Two things stood out for me:

- One of the Beeb's reporters was talking about how experience is key at major tournaments and that Sherida Spitse came on for her 245th cap for the Netherlands. Wales women have played 243 games in their entire history. That's bonkers.

- Steve from Sussex wrote in to sat that there are some poor teams in the Tournament and Wales are one of them (the kind of English person who would be confused why fans from the other home nations get annoyed by the English). So I was understandably very disappointed for Steve when the French won their game...

We’ll all be gutted for him if the Dutch beat them to send them home at the same time as Wales.

Of course the Welsh girls were outclassed, but its all about learning and building for next time. In fact, I thought they did really well in the first half, and but for a lapse of concentration, could have gone in level.

If you were Finnish, you'd have to feel gutted after that. Played all the football and created a shedload of chances, but failed to take them and lost to a slightly flukey goal.
