Summer Transfer Window

Where are they saying this?

I would piss my pants if he left them - and probably die laughing if it was to us.

Saying that… nowhere near good enough
They reckon he's worth £10 mil ffs!! Fucking tap in merchant carthorse mun

The P&S rules effectively apply to championship and premier league. So the stuff below that doesn’t get taken into consideration.

On relegation from the premier league to the championship there are transition allowances which give them more leeway (allowing for the contracts that their players have I guess). So they are allowed higher than the £41.5m total 3 years loss. Effectively they have, I think, £35m allowed each year they were in the premier league and then £13m for championship. So if they made a loss of £25m last year, they have £13m plus the £10m they didn’t use last season. I think, anyway. That may be wrong.

On promotion to the championship it starts as year 1 of the rolling 3 years. I agree with you that that is bollox btw.

In league 1, I believe that owners are allowed to top up (inject equity) to get them over issues.

Birmingham and Wrexham are both able to spend a bomb this year.
Talk from brummie colleagues was that, if you didn't know any better, you'd think the relegation was planned. It's a huge indirect opportunity to dodge FFP. I thought that you only got a reset going into Prem as its different governance, apparently not. As said, it def needs to be looked at. They spent £20m on a single player in L1. They can sell all sorts now to manipulate FFP

yeah if they are staring with totally clean 3 year slate then that is a load of bollox.

Owner injects 100m into the relegated team and buys himself a premiere league team of players while in league 1 before he gets promoted back to championship and they then start from zero on year 1 in the championship. Damn.

That sounds like what they did last year. Stansfield from Fulham etc etc spending 30m on new players.

Looks like LOB's move to Wrexham is dead in the water. Hull are also ruled out so what options will he have with the season looming?

It's not really his choice unless Forest are accepting offers and he's rejecting the contracts being offered. It's in Forest's interests to move him as late in the window as possible as teams who've started the season poorly are more likely to panic and overpay for him.

All for players maximising their earning opportunities while playing, but some of these players - O'Brien & McBurnie being two examples, must realise they're pricing themselves out of a move. Especially in McBurnie's case - without a club & not exactly got a host of clubs knocking down his door.

I agree on McBurnie. There's a thing in the NFL that free agents who are not prized signings (maybe they just had a poor season or are coming back from injury) will sign a 1-year 'prove-it' deal with a team that's expected to do well. They take less money for that 1 season with the hope they'll play well on that good team and will be able to earn a big deal when they become a free agent again the following year.

Both the team and the player benefit if they play well as the team get 1 year of very good play and the player gets to cash in later. If they don't play well or are injured again, the team hasn't spent too much on them and the player at least gets some money. That is something McBurnie could do, take a 1 year contract on less wages and hope to play well enough to attract big offers next summer.

In O'Brien's case, if he doesn't move anywhere, he gets to earn another year of his big wages at Forest. Then he's a free agent next summer, can pick where he goes and he knows teams will offer higher wages as there won't be a transfer fee. Financially, that's probably the better outcome for him, so I wouldn't blame him for keeping his wage demands high this summer.

I think both have options and will get more opportunities as this window starts to close.

Problem with that though both are missing a preseason at whatever club they end up at.

In LOB's case.. probably easier intergration for him with us than anyone else but we know personal terms especially wages could block a move.

Would think Forest would rather sell him in his final year but if he walks on a free I'm sure Forest wouldn't lose much sleep losing £3M player for nothing considering what revenue they generate.

O’Brien (and Sheehan) told me it was likely to be another loan when I spoke to him at the end of the season.

Obviously since then other clubs including Wrexham have shown interest in a permanent switch, which haven’t developed due to various reasons (I’ve been told that O’Brien never fancied Wrexham)… my understanding is negotiations between The Swans, OB and Forest started back just over a week ago - with an agreement in principle being made.

No idea, the hold up now, Forest maybe delaying to see if they get any more offers?

Waiting to bring some money in through Yates maybe?
