Summer Transfer Window

When do we play Sheff Wed? Feels like they’re a guaranteed 3 pts for anyone at the moment.

They’re going to have to field their youth players to fulfil games by the looks of things.

Well that makes me a not real fan then. I was far more reluctant to go to games due to the absolute drivel that both Martin and Williams sides put out. Going to games was a chore as I was largely bored shitless watching us pass it about the back with no purpose just to make the stats look good for the manager.

Your argument about "support them through the bad" doesnt stack up when I have seen the very worst of times, this was a decision driven by nothing other than a total lack of entertainment meaning I could easily find better things to do with my time.

If that makes me not a real fan, then a real fan I'm not.
You lost your passion to go, it happens.
Managers will come and go and regardless of people's view on the managers, fans will always support the team.
As you say, you have watched them through the bad times and seen far worse football I am sure....I know I have but yet I bet you carried on going back then. Other things can become more important in various parts of people's lives.
I find that the older lot who don't tend go is because they used to go with their kids who are now older and are into different things or go with their mates. Their passion to go was through their kids and their enjoyment.

This is just a view/opinion of mine.

Absolutely. Even the darkest days in the 80s and 90s were more enjoyable. After watching us get humiliated at Stoke I would not watch again until Martin went. Not irrational. Just the view of a 50 something with a full dance card of work and home commitments. If I want pain I could hammer a nail into my hand for a fraction of the cost and time. The Swans have always been a release in times of stress, grief and difficulty. Not part of the problem.
Even watching them on TV was stressful. Anyone who comes out with drivel like ‘always give your money and cheer for that’ is less a real fan, than a real fanny.

I hate the "real fan vs not a real fan" bullshit.

I know older people who have listened to the Swans on the radio religiously for years, because that's the only way they have of keeping in touch with the club. They've not been to the stadium for decades though. But are they not real fans?

What about people who live over the pond who have to get up at silly o clock to watch us?

It's daft. The idea that because you're not there in person 23 games a season means you're not "real" is absolute nonsense.

That's the thing, it's a double edged sword.
People who don't go come out with the comment you have delivered.
People who go then like I have stated will say the ones who don't go are not real fans.
It's not black and white and doesn't come with a rule book.

My discussion is, anyone who stopped because of Martin and/or Williams but stuck through the rubbish of let's say Alan Cork reign is not being honest with themselves(only an opinion). I would even say the football under Hollins was painful at times but we were winning games but yet he wasn't rewarded with good players after the title season.

I know some won't like reading this and hope that people can read it more with an open mind.

Always been and always will be a thing. It's very much up for debate.

A fan or follower meanings are very much open for interpretation.

Put down the shovel Daps.

Alan Cork was in charge 23 years before Russell Martin. This may shock you, but people tend to change over time, including their interests, priorities, finances, etc.

Also telling people they're not being honest with themselves because you can't understand their decisions is a bad look.

Arguing about the definition of a 'real' fan is gatekeeping at it's worst.
