Summer Transfer Window

As a side note, I enjoyed Harry Gregg more than the RussWillibots.

We kicked everything bar the ball. That’s my type of football.

Different days and principles - going back through the years there were times when cash for the mortgage was needed and a day at the Vetch / Liberty was knocked on the head, but through my lifetime, like many other fans, my priorities lay elsewhere and while it didn't stop me rushing down to the newsagent on a Saturday tea time to buy the Sporting Post and South Wales Echo(the pink) my principles remained the same as you followed the ups and downs from your armchair, your exclusive berth below the tv staging on the North Bank whenever possible, reap the good years, curse the bad ones and mull over the whys and wherefores of the team in white.
Letters to the editor in the Evening Post were usually from the same fans and whilst modern day technology allows fans from all over the world to follow your club nothing compares to the announcement that the gates to the Vetch Field had been locked and the Swans were no more.
like you Colin thats my era and as i know you live up in "the smoke" now but still make the trips to watch our team and your last paragraph puts the silly bickery in the correct light
grow up lads

Nice post, I enjoyed reading that.
Very classy post 👍

I watched McKenzie last night against Lido and he would get massacred in the championship. He is nowhere near that level at this stage. On the basis of last night I am not sure he ever will be to be honest.
Agreed, nowhere near 1st team standard.
Needs to fill out aswell.

Before my time, spoken to a few of the older guys and they said it was terrible but goes to show the different views and opinions of people.....which it's all about.

My earliest Vetch Field memory of game time goes back to Leeds and John Charles in 1958.While my first recollection of a radio commentary is sharing a headphone with my Dad in the old Swansea Hospital in St Helens Road, when the hospital broadcasters provided basic commentaries on home matches ,for those like my dad who were hospitalised. No regular BBC commentaries then.
Since those days I have unfailingly followed the Swans, not always as a watcher, but always whenever possible as a listener, and always a reader of every stitch of news ,factual or not.Not bothered if this qualifies as a fan or not,but very happy to have done it all.
My experience tells me that managers and players, good or bad, come and go ,as does the level of entertainment and very obviously the level of success. The one constant is the club and the presence of the game in the city ,so I think that most just dust off the bad times and look forward to better days.
Personally I wouldn't change any of it.

No, it was terrible. Just more watchable than Marty and Willy.

Yep different days, i went through a tough spell early 80s, couldnt afford the preston game, even doing 2 jobs. but cried like a baby at 4.55pm that day.

Yeah of course, you are spot on 👍
Not everyone will agree, I would argue that the 2 or 3 that have replied have felt a little offended, tends to happen.....not an issue from my side.
My first game was Aldershot in 89 so got a bit of experience of the older days but you seem to have atleast 20yrs on me.

The typo was from my side, auto correct 👍
Mine was Aldershot too, in 67. A 2-2 draw. They were playing in red and my dad said they played the same colors as Liverpool. But I mis heard him and thought he said we were playing Liverpool. Didnt figure out it was Aldershot until I was 13 five years later lol
