Summer Transfer Window

Got a feeling you are right. Also think that whoever loses out on the Akpom debacle (B'ham/Ipswich/Boro) will also jump in for Kone. So can see Wycombe holding out and to be honest can we blame them?

It could be more that Wycombe are waiting for other clubs. There's not much the player can do (except agree provisional terms with us, which has probably already happened) until the club accept a bid for him.
A deadline will force Wycombe to accept, otherwise they're stuck with him if Leicester don't bid. We can't wait around, let's hunt other targets

I don't disagree, just suggesting the delay is probably more to do with Wycombe not accepting our bid rather than Kone waiting for Leicester. I'm just guessing of course.

Wycombe have done well, they have consistently hawked Kone to the press to drum up interest and provoke a bidding war. They money they are asking for for a 22 year old who only just finished his second season in League One is insane though

Would be extremely high risk and high reward.

His stats are phenomenal given his age however, 26 goal involvements in 52 appearances totalling 3242 minutes (36 full games) last season. That's a goal or assist every 0.7 games

Considering his age, even if the side who buys him doesn't get promoted IF (and it is a big if) he shows he can produce the goods for one or two seasons in the Championship then his new club would likely be able to demand four times that price easily.

Expensive risk, but huge potential and resale value

The club never talked up any of the links with him, he was always a player that they were "aware of"

Casey joining will help ease our immediate defensive concerns

With us having shipped out Kuharevych, Bianchini and Yates we now simply MUST bring in a forward of some description or we will go into the season with only Vipotnik and Cullen as recognized strikers (and neither is suited to play the lone forward role)

Once you factor in the signing on fee that all free agents in demand usually can expect?
Almost certainly and his wages would be several times higher
