Summer Transfer Window

Bar Galbarith I'm really not convinced the window was as good as everyone was making out to be completely honest. If you look at our direct replacements for the players who left the squad has got worse again imo.
Darling>Burgess
Delcroix>Santos
Allen>Fulton
O'Brien>Widell
Inoussa complete unknown can't judge yet
Wales is a kid who won't play much.

This league looks 10x stronger then last seasons and I'm worried if we we don't pull our finger soon in the remaining 4 weeks we may be alot closer to a relegation battle then people seem to think we are.
That’s a bit dramatic. There’s no way to make any proper comparisons between the new signings after 3 friendlies. And the league is not 10x stronger, yes it’s probably slightly tougher. But the majority of teams we’ll face are the same teams we played last season. And they’ll all at some point have injury woes and depth issues because it’s a challenging league with tight finances. Every club bar a few rich ones are facing the same struggles Swansea have.

We've taken punts on Ronald, Franco Widdell Inoussa and Eom, hoping to sell on for a big number
On the basis of what we've seen so far ( Ron Franco and Eom ) that tactic has failed, though Franco might yet prove me wrong, but there's too much gone on "promising but unproven"
We are now looking flaky and in need of more experience
Why would you include Eom in that category? His performances after some bedding in and getting over an injury showed a real quality player, who looks a great buy for us! Strange comment.

Disagree I think alot of the classic mid/lower table table teams like QPR Norwich Watford Derby have got considerably stronger compared to last season and add to that that 2/3 newly promoted teams will splash more cash then we can dream of, this is shaping up to be the hardest season since we've been relegated. I seen on a podcast someone say in this division and this season specifically you have to run just to stand still and right now we haven't even started to walk.

Heading into the Tuesday before the first league game then, and we're still at least 3, probably 4 players short.

Don't get me wrong, we are not a club at the top of the food chain, far from it. So the market is difficult for us. I get that.

But, I'm sorry to say it, it still isn't good enough. I think it was Lisa who said earlier that once again we appear to be just writing off 9 points before the window shuts. We should be better prepared than this. One or two players short you can sort of accept, but 4? Sorry, it's poor. It's not giving Sheehan the best possible chance to succeed.

There's been plenty to like about the new ownership so far - there has been progress, but it's still not enough. They need to be better than this. I hope they're learning from this, their first summer window.
It's you that thinks we need 4 players. Personally I think 2, possibly a 3rd. We're being canny and I hope we get a foreign player in with more potential for the money. Patience will do it.

They've set their stall out now - clearly money there.

Also makes the decisions to get rid of Yates and bianchini strange given it's not looking likely we'll get a replacement this week
We aren't aware of the full facts but if Wycombe are taking the Kona transfer to an auction there is only so much we can pay, so its right we walk away and look at the next striker on Monty's list.
Didn't Wycombe play the same game when we were after the defender Low last January and eventually saw him walk away and Wycombe had to settle for compensation when he moved to Huddersfield.

Recruitment in football isn't a perfect world and there are some clubs like Spurs and Wycombe who go to the nth degree to get the best deal for themselves and you either not deal with them or play their game. More importantly for us is for Monty to concentrate on his list and get the right man in asap before the window closes.

We are unable to pay the fees those clubs paid but there are players out there for the money we have to play with.
It's not just the striker situation, we have no natural cover at LB and a massive sized hole in the holding midfield position still not covered.

I was quite excited with the early business but I am starting to scratch my head with what the plan is here.
the plan was indicated after the Galbraith signing when it was mentioned there would be no more signings until the players return, or if we can offload players. But the plan is always going to be risky if we look to sign young hopefuls at PL clubs on loan especially the ones like Casey who will be selected in the club's pre-season mini competitions in Thailand, Australia or America bearing in mind also the the PL starts a week later than the Championship which gives PL clubs a further week to assess their own squads prior to giving the nod to release any player.

Patience won't count for much if we get battered at Boro on Saturday and Sheffield United come down here and do the same the following week. It's a 46 game season, not 43

whilst agreeing with you to a point the finacial position we find ourselves in is where we are, as frustrating as it is ( and belive me i feel it too) the rules we are under do cause us to be prudent and with the numbers that left at the end of the season or sold or loaned out since still leaves us in a negative position number wise and with a smallish budget we have to be extremly carefull on the financial front do we not ? and agree its a 46 game season but we HAVE to be patiencent ( unfortunatly)
the above is just my opinion of course and lets be realistic the guys brought and being brought in have not played in the championship and its going to be a huge step up for the new lads 1 or 2 apart so we have to hope the recruitment team the manager and coaching staff can pull a few rabbits out of the hat ( and quickly)

Is Kone with all that cash? I've seen his highlights - seems a lot to pay.
Seems a lot of people are or have said the same and I personally couldn't disagree with them.
We don't seem to be looking at the foreign market as much as we should be, why is that!? Surely when they talk about punching above our weight then the foreign market is the correct route.

Course you need your players from these shores especially with experience but we have 2/3 non WP slots available coupled with players who pass the criteria with WP.

It needs to be better and already a sense of deja vu is kicking in after a decent start.
