Alan Sheehan on Birmingham City | Reaction

I think people are just a little gutted we lost yesterdays game after such an epic performance during the week.
How much of that could be due to tiredness and match fitness? The Carabao Cup match was very tough and 3 days afterwards we're expecting a win against another tough opposition... I too am disappointed, but some on here and on X you'd swear were been demoted already...

The levels of changes we've had won't see consistent results in the handful of matches we've had so far.

We, as supporters, just need to calm down a little.

We are desperately missing a 10. We have Galbraith and Yalcouye covering a lot of ground and Franco and Stemenic play quite deep in a 6 role. We need someone in the 10 who can link the play between our deep lying midfield and give Vip or Idah creative support.

Is that Widdel, Eom or Cullen of which neither are featuring as a 10 from the start. Maybe for home games we need to do this.

Middlesbrough had a lot of incomings this season, and they had a new manager to get acclimatised to , but they seem to have started fine looking at the table. Stop making excuses for some bang average performances so far .

A thought emerging in my head recently is that Sheehan doesn’t have a place in his midfield for a creative 10 type. Maybe he sees all the creativity in his teams coming down the flanks or over the top, with the midfield 3 all being worker bees. I hope that’s not the case, but if it’s effective over 46 games, then I can’t complain.

We are early in the season though. Let’s see how things go.

I agree, we've seen very little creative centrally so far. Yalcouye and Galbraith are more than good enough for that role, so hope to see it moving forward.

Also, I'm nowhere near as cynical as some on here, but it is worth noting that our only two wins so far have been to the sides in the bottom two.

Looking back to the game we were desperate in the last 20 minutes for somebody in midfield to hold onto the ball, but when a referee fails in letting the game flow the result was the percentage possession gradually tilted to the home team.

Looking back to the damage Patrick Roberts made in the short time he was on the field one does just wonder if Benson had replaced Ronald or even bringing Widell on earlier to replace a tiring Stameric what effect that would have been.

To bring on Cullen and Widell minutes after we had conceded a goal was just amateurish bearing in mind three players who played v Forest Galbraith(89 minutes), Franco and Ronald(90+7) while Stameric, although he didn't play v Forest was subbed on 90 minutes.

One would love to read what the sports science guy checking each player's data was relating back to the coaches.

Just had an international break and a midweek cup game, both of which were against good teams. It going to have some impact plus they kicked lumps out of us yesterday at certain parts of the game.

Couldn't agree more with that.

At the start of the season who could predict Stoke would be sitting in second place on 12 points and Sheffield United bottom without a single point.

Southampton got spanked by Hull yesterday (was our draw such a bad result?)

Is this the most exciting season we've had for a while? I hope so 🤞🏼
And now Oxford beating Bristol City (although they’ve started better than I thought) away from home. Crazy start to the season.

Football, eh!

We need to get rid of Franco, I will keep banging this drum. He's contributing next to nothing for our attack.

Speaking to a few fans in work today, the doubts are creeping into the Sheehan appointment, we all agree that the performances have been iffy for the first six league games and I don't think the performances are suddenly going to swing in a positive direction. Even Pep today tried the Sheehan tactics and backfired.

If I was the opposing manger, I would attack our full backs all game and raise the tempo second half and go at us. We can't play 90 minutes at the moment.

I agree about attacking our full backs especially Key who struggles with any pace and trickery and rarely blocks a shot.

Sheehan very much in the Cooper mould of grinding out results with a deep lying team. He can't afford to play players into the ground when you have clear options available. He could of brought Benson on also if he wanted a point he could have brought on Casey to help the CB's counteract the Brum physicality.

Glad I don't work with you and your friends 😊. No offense mate. But getting rid of Franco and now questioning Sheehan. Jesus. We are 10th in the league and 4 points off 2nd. Just beat a Premier league side. Had best transfer in years and finished strong last season, while he saved us from relegation. Does Sheehan have alot to learn defo. But we have massive turnaround in the squad, who are new to the championship. Also we have seen players progress under Sheehan. Do I think Franco could do more sure. But to get rid. No. I'm not sure it's generation thing or not, but people seem so impatient. We are not Liverpool nor Real Madrid. If you want a win everyweek your backing the wrong team. No offense.

It's not a generation thing, it's an getting old thing. Results at the moment for me is secondary. I am keenly viewing our performances game to game looking for progression and I am currently disappointed with the start of the season performance wise. Maybe my weakness is I do like to see attacking football and that's where the frustration comes in.

Its takes all flavours. Personally I see a team that can be exciting and has shown signs. Others see it as boring. I'm not advocating we win at all costs, but same time, the so called Swansea Way has in the many years held us down. If it'd managers, fans or owners. We have evolved from this. I do believe we have the most strongest team since relegation and I'm excited about where we are going. But some are impatient I suppose.
