Stating the obvious we have 27 games left and safety mark is around 50 points. We need roughly 9 Wins out of 27. Can we do it?

With the current lot it will be touch and go. If Matos can get some quality help off his former employer we may have a chance. Continue to play Key at right back and we are Donald ducked.

It is going to be close. I can see a poor Christmas and hopefully a revival next year and some decent results at home. Jan transfer window may be a problem as the better players go to top 6 clubs.

Based on our past performances this season we’d get 29.6 more points for a total of 52 points rounded down. But things seem to be improving under Matos so I hope it will look a little better than that.

I think 57 is the fewest we’ve had in 10 Championship seasons. Still think that sort of figure is doable
So we have to go some to even beat our lowest points total in the last 10 championship seasons? By gosh, this club is on a downward spiral. As fans we have had sweet F A to shout about for seasons now, and for the last few our season (promotion wise) has been over before it's even started. This season so far has been one long clusterf**k.

Not sure what the lowest we’ve been on at the half way stage would be? I’d be surprised if it was much higher than what we’ll have this season though.

Not disputing the last few months have been very underwhelming (and that’s an understatement) though and we need to put a good run together at some point to move away from the bottom 3.

I know we're not at the halfway point yet, but here's our points total for each season after 21 games:

This season - 23 points.
24/25 - 27 points
23/24 - 25 points
22/23 - 31 points
21/22 - 27 points
20/21 - 39 points
19/20 - 31 points
18/19 - 29 points

So it's our worst start yet and would have been far more grim if not for the two recent wins. Thanks to those, this is only 2 points worse than under Duff.

This season is purely about survival, nothing more. I think we'll do it, just about.

Then in summer it will be time to get rid of a lot of dead wood and focus on bringing in players that better suit Matos. If we could, I would get rid of Key, Ronald, Eom, Cullen and Fulton, for starters. They just constantly underwhelm.

And for the love of god, hope we get a good start to next season, because I for one am absolutely sick of us changing coaches mid-season. I just want a boring uneventful season for once, where we amble to a comfy mid-table finish under the same coach, and we build from there quietly and gradually. It's not too much to ask, surely.

Still plenty of football left this season, I am looking at play offs not relegation. This standard is so bad this year, a few January signings and we could go on a run.
We've beat one team who was outside of the relegation zone at the time we beat them (it was Oxford who are hardly a decent a team).

You are living in dream land if you think anything but survival is the aim.
