Josh Key

There is merit in playing Key ahead of Ronald on the right

Key gives a better attacking option than offside Ronald

Ronald gives you some pace to cover RB where no doubt the opposite happens he plays them onside 😁

Yes I have wondered about this. Ironically Ronald is a much better tackler than he is a crosser

Said it before the only way out is hard work and a return to basics.
You are a RB and your responsibility is 100% to defend the right side. I feel like Key hast oo much going on in hiis head re getting forward and covering other positions.
He constantly needs to know where the opposition threat is and to adjust his position to neutralise the supply to that player, and the ability of that player to lift his head and attack him.
This is concentration and clarity of thought. A challenge for our new coaches - but if we can take him out of the firing line and work with bim...he might not be a totally lost cause.

totally agree Jackareme, unfortunatly his confidance looks shot and now he and i would say 1 or 2 others need to knuckle down work very hard , there is a fair player in there, these new coaches when they finally arrive have a job to do with him, as long as he is prepared to work hard i am sure he wiil come through

I have never thought Key has been good enough, for me it's been clear since he arrived that he not good enough for the Championship.

Some people say he has all the tools needed, I don't see it he's not particulary quick or strong and his positional sense is terrible. I don't think he has been poorly coached, however I don't think he has been poorly utlised (the inverted fullbacks under Williams was shocking).

At one point both him and Tymon were terrible, yet Tymon has been able to turn around his performances, yes Tymon is better going forwards but his defender has improved weras Key has regressed.

He reminds me of Barrie Mckay when people used to say there is a player in there, for me there isn't (like there wasn't with Mckay) and we need to cut our losses recoup what we can and use his wages elsewhere.

Can we sign a RB in January (and I mean straigh away not the 31st)?
Is Parker Ready?
Why have we not seen Casey at RB?

Agree completely with most of the takes on here re how bad Key is these days, however I would add you could quite easily do a similar thread on about half a dozen of our current squad.

He's poor, but he's by no means the only one.

I respect your veiw but mine differs, you may be correct but i would give the lad a chance to redeme himself at least to the end of this season under these new coaches.
But good to see differing opinions with out name calling

On the whole I agree there, every player currently deserves a fair chance to prove themselves to Matos, however that sub appearance on the weekend was so bad, there have to be consequences. He needs to be out of the team for a good spell.

again i agree he was poor on saturday, we have 2 in the backround, Parker and Casey would you go for either to allow Galbraith to move backminto midfield and if so which one?

He was way off Sorba Thomas when the ball was played across, then turned his back on the shot. Unacceptable defending. If the manager keeps picking him then he's also to blame. In my opinion it was a poor substitution. He should have seen enough of Key since arriving here to know that his confidence is shot and should be taken out of the firing line. Clean sheets against Oxford and Portsmouth should have told him enough.

I like Key and really want him to get through this bad spell.
You can see he’s struggling with hesitation and doubt, having a non winger in front of him isn’t helping, as there’s no link up play or connection there.
