Some thoughts after yesterday’s game

Yes, we will never be 'too good to go down' when only two or three wins ahead in this mad league. If we can't put teams away, it makes no odds if we are 'better' than them. We need some points.

I'm pretty confident Oxford (but you never know, a few that didn't go down looked toast until the last few games last season) will join SW, so we only need to more than match one other, and we might as well start by sticking a spoke in Blackburn's dinghy.
Blackburn are coming down in a small boat!

Looks like Oxford have signed one or two players this window, saw someone saying they’re doing some decent business, hopefully that’s not true.

The 6 point gap is a good achievement by Matos. Charlton, Norwich and Portsmouth have been picking up points so we have kept the gap. Also good to see we have played a lot of the top 10 away already.

We'll give them all a game at home now too, but I think we'll need more than 1 goal per game to trouble most. We've drawn 1-1 with Milly, Watford, Brum, so against those above us, in games where we were well on top for much of the time (yes, even under Sheezy) but couldn't make it count, and Hollywood and Delias were close run things. I'm sure we will hold another 1-0 at some point - maybe tonight - but that's just so risky with our defence, and ability to switch off for 10 or 20 minutes each game.

There's not a lot wrong with our defence, only conceded 4 more than Coventry and comfortably conceded a lot less than some. All our problems are at the other end of the pitch, and we would have beaten a few teams at home if only we could have got a second goal from somewhere.

“The press improvement has brought us away from the relegation places”.

It’s incredible what perception can do. When Matos was appointed we were 4 points away from the bottom three. Now we are 6 points away.

I agree that we SEEM in less trouble, but we are not ‘away’ from relegation quite yet.

We do have more teams below us which is always a good thing and I genuinely don’t think we’ll go down btw, but we need to stop dropping points in games we are dominating in order to actually get safe.
The most part of that post was to speculate how we improve even more and getting Vipotnik to his full potential but if you’re hung up on the negatives that’s all you’ll see. Don’t become a female perch Lisa you’re far less depressing that that .

I don’t think we’ve scored more than two in any league game all season. We haven’t even scored two very often.

No way will we go down. ,
We have one of the best keepers in the Championship plus the joint leading goal scorer.
A competitive midfield .
For me Oxford will struggle to gain enough points .
The other one will be one of the following
Charlton , Blackburn & Portsmouth .
Portsmouth with their home form have the best chance of staying up .

100%

If Ward is going to start I’d be tempted to do it away to Hull though and play a more natural fullback away from home.

Stamenic for Fulton may well be the only change on Tuesday, with 3/4 rotated next Saturday - depending on the result and performance in midweek.
Obviously was in the know for tonight’s team news! 😂

Without checking pretty sure we scored 2 at Blackburn , 2 at Sheffield Wednesday ,
2 at West Brom away .
2 against Hull , 2 against Norwich , 2 against Oxford . 2 against Wrexham at home .

We have been playing moronically stupid shit since I said we were playing lovely stuff. Just giving them the ball, walking around, and trying stupid nonsense.

Totally self inflicted. Infuriating.
