S25/26 | The Official Match Thread | Watford FC 0 Swansea City 2 | Att: 18,691 | 31.01.26 | The EFL Championship | Vicarage Road, Watford

Unlike most, I personally believe Stamenic to be our best midfielder at the moment so he has to play at 6 in my view. I also thought Fulton had another good game.

Galbraith has been caught out of position a few times in recent games but that may be tiredness. He was better today positionally when he came on.

I don’t think Ward is the answer at right back other than for shorter periods so Galbraith will have to stay there until we presumably buy a new one in the summer.
Ward really is a temporary fix. He adds experience to the squad and imagine come the summer we will get a proper replacement. I'm sure I read that there is more to the Ward deal, as in he might be doing his badges.

Love the optimism but no. This isn’t a play off squad by any stretch.
There are far too many teams between us and the playoffs IMO, but I’m not sure our squad is any worse than the likes of Hull, Millwall, Preston and Derby who’ve all got a real shout of making the top 6.

Ifs, buts and maybes but this season may well turn out to be a ‘what might have been’ with a different appointment in the summer. That’s not to say I didn’t think Sheehan deserved a crack at it full time after the run last season, and I’d probably not have been ruthless enough to go in a different direction if I was part of the process either.

Yes, Irankunda took a chunk out of Tymon's leg five minutes earlier, didn't he? Just got a telling off, should have been a card.
a few times they went into a challenge, elbows up, one right in front of him , he totally ignored it.

I guess we will have to see.
10 games ago, I would have said no way.
Now I may be very quietly optimistically thinking that if we can just keep improving and continue with our form we could sneak in or at least make the last few games to play for.
Who knows, there may be many twists and turns.

I’m quite excited for the match next Sunday. Sheffield Wednesday are very much weakened by being in Administration, and it is awful for their fans, but I am looking forward to seeing this side with a full week of practice and the new additions being involved.

Was going to allude to that as well, by far the best I’ve seen from Yalcouye, constantly made himself available for passes and didn’t give it away once. Also broke up a number of their moves. Great show from him.
His biggest flaw this season has been a tendency to hold onto the ball too long and run into blind alleys trying to do too much. There was none of that from him today, he carried when he should carry, released it when he should and was a total pest in midfield

The Foul from Ince was a shocker. Can't Remeber who he fouled but he just went full force with arms to the face and got nothing.
