Losing a pet

Evening all. It only seems like yesterday that Daz had posted that they'd finally lost their dog at around 17 years old (I think)

We are having our Lab put down (who is a couple of months shy of 15) on Saturday. Bloody horrible. Sorry for the morbid post but it just seems surreal.
Sorry to read this Wayne, we have lost a few dogs over the years and it is not easy, our chocolate lab is now 3 and is doted on by all the family, I dread the day the effect it will have on our daughter, son in law and especially our grandson when we lose him.

Love a chocolate lab, well just labs in general

Sorry to hear this. Never easy. When the time was up for our JRT nearly ten years ago I absolutely was in bits. He was close to 18 and quality of life was falling rapidly. Worst bit was I had taught the vet. It's something we cover a lot in communication skills now, but very challenging for students to move into practice to do this with empathy.

The vet arrived at 815, he struggled to find a vein and he said she would've probably gone in a few days, the right decision

The lad had a school tournament in Watford so we had a stroll around the park she used to love when she was younger.
My late mother had a bench put in Singleton park, in the botanical Gardens, for our German Shepherd dog when he passed away many many years ago now. She used to walk it most days in the park.

Such a funny time for this post. Had our staff put down on Friday out of nowhere - was 10 years old and in perfect health, than just got some undiagnosed illness and lost 3kg in 10 days, couldn't hold food, and that was that. Strange little lives we lead, getting emotional over the family member that can't talk to us
