He's been omitted from Portsmouth's EFL squad submitted to the football league so he can't play for them again.

Surely it's best he just returns to us now?

Do you mean withdrawn from the squad? Due to injury or they don't want to use him? If so may as well return as you say, see if Vitor can get some sort of tune out of him

We have quite a few places left in our 25 man squad given players under 21 are not included in it.
I believe we have 22 players with 3 slots not taken.

If he's fit and financially able for us to do it then it would make sense he returns.

I don't think he would be able to return to our squad outside of a transfer window even if we wanted him to, which I'd imagine we don't. No doubt conversations would have taken place with Pompey regarding this towards the end of the window and the calculation has been made that we'd rather he stay there with them paying a proportion of his wage and not be used rather than him come back here and not be used with us paying all of his wage.

Pretty bad on us if we did the above. Leaving the lad high and dry for the season.

I'd prefer to believe that Pompey didn't ask to return him so we could find another club to loan him too.

Every club has to submit their 25 man squad to the EFL.

Pompey ran out of spaces in their 25 so Bianchini wasn’t registered.

If think he's left himself high and dry by not putting a shift in at Portsmouth. Best case scenario is to try and move him on permanently next summer. Easier said than done.

There is likely no recall / early termination clause in the loan agreement for Bianchini meaning that Portsmouth couldn't have sent him back to us unless both sides agreed. We either didn't believe that we could find a new loan club or not one who would have covered as much of his wages as Portsmouth have.

Under which case the club was under no obligation to bring him back and not use him just for the club to eat the wage bill instead of Portsmouth.

Does it suck for the player? Yes
Would it have happened if he applied himself properly? No

Great post 👍

Maybe working with a good coach like Matos wiill see the best of him .
You never know. You can't argue that Matos has changed some of our current crop around in his time here.
Bianchini seems to have the attributes that could see Matos produce some results with him.

Given Idah and Inoussa are out injured then it could have been a good option for him to or to have returned and given Matos a good chance to see him everyday and decide between now and May if he has a future at the club.
